Classic playlist won't have classic gameplay

Hi all, unsure if there has already been an entire thread post on this, however, as a warning or PSA/FIY, the so called “classic playlist” will have halo 5 GAMEPLAY. Mhm, not classic gameplay, halo 5 gameplay.

Quote from ske7ch below, from another thread:

“Ok well I hate to dampen everyone’s excitement but with a lack of actual details earlier I know a lot of folks have gotten excited and made their own conclusions. I’m covering this a bit more tomorrow in the weekly update but the anniversary playlist is a collection of really sweet Forge-made Halo: CE maps in Halo 5. It’ll have Halo 1 pistol weapon starts but gameplay-wise it’s Halo 5. I know there are a lot of folks who definitely want a ‘classic’ gameplay experience (i.e. stripped down minus new stuff like sprinting, clamber, etc…) but I’m not sure if any such plans are in the works (or if it’s technically even possible). I’ll definitely bring it up at our next multiplayer meeting next week but for now wanted to at least give you proper context and expectations for next week.”.-End Quote

See, this is PRECISELY why I was not excited about it. I remember posting something as a response to a thread about it a while ago, that I won’t be excited for anything until it comes out so I can see for myself-as I am ALWAYS disapointed when I put faith in the team at 343- and surprise surprise, the classic playlist is regular halo 5 gameplay on classic maps with Ce weapon starts. I was actually wanting to get back into Halo 5 in mild excitement for this classic playlist, looks like I may leave it to gather dust for another few weeks or a month while I play Gears 4.

For those of you out out there who keep saying “have some faith”-well I did. Again, I had some sort of hope that 343 would put a genuine classic playlist after we have been asking for it over a year (note, I don’t hate halo 5s gameplay, I’ve played it a lot, I just would love the change to classic for sometime within Halo 5). So don’t treat this as a “bash 343” thread, it isn’t. It merely highlights that sitting here twiddling your thumbs thinking 343 “listens to the fans dude” is fruitless, because clearly they do not. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be 15th anniversary pack containing classic Mark V, for $15. Lastly, now many of you who were excited for the classic playlist will now launch halo 5 on the 15th knowing what it really is without making any hopeful assumptions, and thus angrily posting on waypoint, much like with the fall of reach falcon fiasco, as Ske7ch says, proper expectations for next week.

hmm interesting. I made a video on classic playlists outlining some issues it would have had. It’s possible 343 identified those issues and realized it wouldnt work very well.

I was going to make a thread elaborating on this a bit but it appears there’s no longer a need.

That’s a shame. I was thinking about reinstalling Halo 5 to try it.

Funny you should say that. I was thinking about uninstalling it after this.

Definitely wouldn’t mind freeing up 80gb.

Yes, I have seen it and agree with your points in it. As the gameplay and movement elements have drastically changed map design. However, if dedicated forges could make maps that work with a classic movement and gameplay, that would be excellent, and that is what i was hoping for. Just to make it clear in case anyone does not want to read the full post.

Well if you were looking to play proper classic, looks like I saved you a lot of time (takes me more than a day to install something as large as Halo 5).

I want something classic, Halo 3 style like.

Yes this is exactly my point when i refer to a “proper” classic playlist.

I was considering doing the same thing to be honest, however it would take too long to reinstall in the event something good happens (it is 90GB+ now).

Are u really surprised that 343 is out of touch with the halo community

91.37GB.

For some reason I had an update that equalled 91.37GB. Not an install, it said update. And the game was already installed.

I was excited… was.

Yeah this was a glitch with the 250mb update they pushed out a little while back

No mate, not at all. I was trying to have some sort of hope/faith that 343 would do something right for once, as all those who keep saying so-as previously mentioned-do not stop saying that “343 listens to fans”. Obviously, I was disappointed.

Yes I am inclined to agree with this. Considering the game is large as is, it would be no surprise that even a small no content update would increase the size.
