I know a lot of players are loving the new movement in Infinite. For me i’m not a huge fan of sprint/slide/clamber, but I know it’s the in thing at the moment in 1st person shooters…
I’ve been playing Halo since the day combat evolved came out and i’d love to see something like this for a social/ranked 4v4 playlist.
No sprint, no slide, no clamber. Faster default walk speed and higher default jump height.
I’m sure that this would help bring back old players and might even encourage them to try the new movement in other playlists.
I’m not too fussed if the movement mechanics are in BTB and fiesta style modes, but i’d love a competative classic 4v4 Halo playlist that could bring infinite a little closer to the original trilogy days.
They rotate classic playlists in Halo 5 so could definitely see this happening, especially if the playlist is popular. It probably will be full of hardcore Halo 3 purists so probably won’t be a very laid back playlist, which means naturally lower population.
You would also need a bunch of forge maps for it as none of the current maps we have tested work without clamber. I like to think as this is Halo Infinite (the ten year game) I think we will see true remakes of most, if not all maps. It would be cool to be able to basically play the idler games with updated graphics kind of like H2:A, one of my favourites to play in hardcore settings.
Hey there!
I can totally see where you’re coming from in regards to the old school movement style and such. Of course we have the Master Chief collection for those seeking that old school nostalgia but of course it would be great to have those players follow us into the Infinite installment of the series as well. I am an older Halo fan myself and I’m impartial in regards to bringing in new FPS features however I do enjoy any game with parkour functions such as clambering and sliding. I assume it could be done but only time will tell!
Cheers.

That’s great to hear, I never got to Halo 5 as I’m on PC and heard the game wasn’t up to scratch.
This is why I was hoping for a social and ranked version. I have no problem with trying hard in the Halo 3 playlist so I can relax in the clamber/sprint playlists…
I just think it’d be good to bring more people on board with Infinite. I’m really not a fan of the movement as for me it takes away your choices in combat and interupts the flow of the game.
In regards to map design that’s why I said increased default speed and default jump height, as I have noticed the jump height in infinite is a lot smaller than the likes of Halo 3. Since plays in Halo aren’t just static and are effected by momentum and physics you’d probably be able to make these jumps that way.
