classic playlist detaisl yet?

made this thread a couple months ago but anyone know what the details are of classic is? like full out classic 4 shot br NO loadouts at all and that stuff?

to me this is going to what makes or break halo 4 for me so i just want to know whats in this before this game comes out. because if classic isnt any good ill probably just stick to campaign and forge

when they say classic im pretty sure theyre making it as close to halo 3 as possible. doubt it’ll be a 4 shot BR. When they say classic it probably just means no AA’s or loadouts.

edit: Also no perks, ordanance drops. theyre basically making Halo 3.5 within multiplayer

Hopefully the Classic playlists are closer to Halo 2. I can’t stand 2 hit melees.

We have no details on it at all.

I hope it doesn’t try to copy Halo 2 or 3, or even CE. I want it to be Halo 4. Make Resupply a default perk, and a Magnum secondary for every loadout. Allow players to choose their primary weapon, with the other secondaries and ordinance weapons spawning on the map at predictable intervals in predictable locations. Powerups and AAs should spawn in the same fashion. Everything else added in Halo 4 is fine and should stay that way. Damage and player speed should not be modified.

With all due respect, they are classic playlists.

But what definition of “classic” is really classic? CoD4 had a “classic” playlist, where weapons and perks spawned on the maps as pickups. The movement was modified, but everything else played like CoD4. On the other hand, the “classic” playlists in Reach tried to remake Halo CE and Halo 2.

This is what I would actually like 343 to really clarify: is it classic-style gameplay, or a remake?

Where did I say perks? Resupply would only be there to emulate picking grenades up off an enemy in older games.

no that mode wasnt called classic. because call of duty was never ever like that. it was called old school as in an old school type shooter with 3x more health and no perks or loadouts.

imo classic should be no perks, no sprint, no loadouts, no armor abilities. faster default speed (halo 1) and 4 shot br. a 5 shot br seems like team shooting to a whole new level of UNFUN

It was still similar to CoD4’s mecahnics, the name does not matter.

Don’t expect a lot of players to be playing it. 343 will view it as a failure due to low player counts because everything will be so different from default Halo 4.

I just hope that they will play like a mixture of Halo 2 and Halo 3 which are arguably the “classic” multiplayer experiences. A majority of the proponents of classic playlists seem to agree.

As for the playlists themselves, I’d prefer the following setup:
Classic Slayer: 4v4 Slayer
Classic Objective: 4v4 Objective
Classic FFA: 8p FFA
Classic BTB: 8v8 Slayer and Objective

old school and classic mode are trying to accomplish 2 completely different things. why even compare them

To be fair, why bother trying to remake the old games? Just play the old games. I understand being cautious to Halo 4’s changes(I am, myself) but I still want a new game. Gunplay, movement, jumping, and even sprint seem to work fine in Halo 4. The big turn off for many is the fact that players can spawn with whatever they want, and all the player-altering characteristics that can be chosen to spawn with.

Please tell me the difference. They mean the same thing.

It’s VERY difficult to play Halo 2 online… and Halo 3 has lost its lustre (it was never that great to begin with). Of course I’ll enjoy Halo 4 with all of its new innovations, but sometimes you just want the comfort of nostalgia and simplicity. There are custom games for that, but I have so few friends that play Halo that it’s not practical (which is another reason a Custom Games Browser would be a good idea).

For what it’s worth, this sounds like a good classic playlist to me. A lot more traditional, but still feels like a new experience.

Which is exactly my point.
