Classic Music?

If y’all watched the Halo Infinite trailer, you know they used the iconic song from Halo 3 “Finish the Fight.” I really enjoy Kazuma’s take on Halo’s music, especially when he is trying to replicate the sound of the original trilogy. The moment the octave E piano notes were struck I literally jumped out of my seat and screamed “WHAT?!?!?!” I was wondering what did you think of the music in this trailer?

Honestly, it and the Mark VI armor made me wonder whether they are trying to wow the Halo 3 fans, who I’d expect to be the majority of the classic fanbase by now, and what that means for the rest of the game. Beyond that, I’m not really sure what to think. I can see why they’d choose it, and it’s a nice piece, but that’s about it.

Absolutely love it. Was kind of sad to see Marty’s comment on it. I’d like to see Kazuma do some more OT arrangements

The music was definitely halo. I put on a smile when hearing it.

I think that it was to please please the fans and make them happy
or it could be hinting that Marty is returning for the new game

It was kinda heartbreaking seeing Martiy’s tweet. I think he really wants to be involved with Halo again, since I’ve seen him comment on wanting to do a live performance of Halo music and how he offended he appeared when 343 used Halo 5’s Halo chant instead of his own for the #halochallenge. I think Kazuma has made some amazing arrangements and variations of Halo’s music such as “Never Forget (Midnight Version),” “Blue Team,” and “117.” I honestly think that if Kazuma and Marty teamed up, we would get one of the best scores in Halo

I’d like to see another variant of “A Walk in the Woods”, as long as it stays true to a classic sound. I don’t remember hearing it in Halo 4 or 5. Even though Reach had “Walking Away” which has an obvious meaning… and it feels like a sacred Marty piece… that song just fits Halo so well.

I was happy to hear it. Made the trailer feel like genuine Halo and brought me way back.

The fact that people knew exactly what it was the moment it happened made me feel happy. They better keep reinforcing this positive momentum.

I had similar feelings. The look of the armor and the Halo 3-esque music made it all the more odd when the blog post said the game will continue the story of the Chief after Halo 5.

I reckon that 343 might be trying to make a Halo game that “returns to the roots,” kind of like what Gears of War did. From what I hear Gears 4 has been a great success, but I wouldn’t know since I haven’t been involved with that franchise lately.

I really enjoy both, the classic and the new music styles, but and kind of for nostalgic reasons I would love to see the return of the classic music.

E Dorian!

I enjoy Kazuma’s musical work on Halo. Was definitely a big fan of the music in Halo 3 too. If you think about it, this is the 3rd 343 Halo game (not including CE anniversary) and it practically used a song from Halo 3. As you said, Halo 3 was one of the most popular Halos (personally my favorite as well) but nonetheless, I thought it was interesting this was 343’s 3rd Halo installment much like Bungie’s Halo 3.

I think it portrayed a nice message of going back to roots, at least in some aspects that we know of.

The music was perfect - no dubstep or new scores that don’t capture the feel of Halo. As much as I liked the trailer intro music, I hope the entire soundtrack for Infinite isn’t just rehashed tracks from Bungie’s trilogy. 343 should try to make some songs that capture the feel of the classic trilogy (monk chanting, guitar, drums, etc.) and not rely so heavily on making everything so new it’s indistinguishable from the classic tracks.

I think you might enjoy what he’s been working on, I honestly can’t wait to hear more

Hearing that music sent shivers down my spine. I haven’t been this excited to hear Halo music in a while.

I really loved the choice of track for the trailer, beautiful and so Iconic - captures the majesty and alienness of Halo in and of itself as well as being nostalgic at this point. Hope they take a lot of motif’s from Marty’s work in the game itself as well

DING!!!

shivers uncrontrollably
