I propose a classic Halo Playlist that features all of the current Reach maps but with the TU update, no armor abilities DMR starts and maybe the original TU with bleed through. Hell why not set the speeds to 125 so we can move around a little better in combat.
I get it a lot of people enjoy armor abilities and such but I know there is a decent enough chunk of the community that wants to play a Halo that feels more like Halo 2 and Halo 3. The Classic Playlist that did exist at one point was more so an attempt to play Halo CE on Reach. It was nice and all but I want some good old fashion Halo 2 and Halo 3 gameplay.

although i agree with your general reasoning i think you are looking for a slightly too simplifyed vertion of halo on reach. the classic list was nice but it suffered from not much use. you should look for a “grass roots” style to promote it. i do feel that the armor abilitys are over done and should be thinned out a little. I.E. armorlock over done and over used. i do support your quest because of armor lock. if it could be replaced by the drop sheald in normal matchmakeing i would be thrilled. but i would rather see it banned completely.
While I don’t mind a No-AA or AA as pickups on the map type of gametypes in the regular Slayer playlists, you’re also putting in your own preference for speed, the TU and the DMR.

Well unfortunately for Vanilla settings and the Reach Assault Rifle, fast killtimes happen to be a prerequisite for “classic” gameplay.
Anniversary Classic may be the official Classic playlist, but it does lack somewhat. MLG is probably your best option for limited AA usage and gameplay in MM. GoldPro is also classic, but for now it is purely for custom games. Since most players will move on to Halo 4 once it drops, a full classic playlist now would be short-lived.
In short, Anniv. Classic and MLG are your best options. If you can get customs rolling with enough people, try GoldPro.
I feel the best fix for everyone is to add classic gametypes into already going playlists SUPER SLAYER & TEAM OBJECTIVE as a voting option and then those that what to play it can and those that don’t , don’t have to .
