Classic Firefight Playlist - who's interested?

Let me preface this by saying, I thoroughly enjoy WZFF. I think it’s a challenge, it’s a lot of fun when you roll with your buddies, and I’m grateful to it for being the main impetus for me finishing out all my REQ unlocks.

I’m also aware that IF 343 were to make ANY mode of this game classic, it should be the Arena first and foremost because that’s what a lot of ppl on here are asking for (and that I always enjoyed in previous iterations myself)

BUT…I think it would be awesome and a lot of fun to have a 4 or 8 man classic FF playlist within WZ. ODST style, 7-10 lives collectively amongst your team, 3 round sets, each round is 5 waves, no REQs, one or two heavy weapon drops each round, strictly map pickups including vehicles and power ups, see how long you last and how many points you can rack up. You can use the WZ Assault variants of each map and maybe have new ones forged. You could even start players with the suppressor versions of the magnum and SMG like in ODST, just increase the overall capacity for the magnum like a built-in Patrol Case armor mod.

I dunno about the rest of you, but the fun loving part of my Halo self would squeal with enjoyment if this were to take place.

The classic version is so much more fun.

Classic version is and always will be better. But because there are so many -Yoink- bugs and glitches in H5, it would still be a terrible experience for me.

WZFF would be much better than the classic one if 343i at least fixed the massive bugs and glitches, as well as the terrible respawn system and timer.

Yyyeeessssss the classic firefight is sooo good and needs to be brought back

I agree with you there for the most part. I don’t really see too many bugs/glitches in WZFF, but admittedly I haven’t played Halo in about a month since Rise of Iron for Destiny came out, and bc of other RL obligations.

That being said, the respawn system and timer do leave much to be desired. You only have 5 minutes for each round. To be penalized in the final round for 10% of the length of the round for dying when the most pain is coming your way is ludicrous. INB4 ‘Git Gud Scrub’ There are only one or two situations where this truly is a problem, and the number one I think everyone would agree on, is the Deacon Pipap final round on Apex. It’s not even that he’s all that tough, but the number of iCannon-wielding Knights that spawn with him (AND KEEP RESPAWNING) is INSANE. If carpet bombs existed in Halo, I’d save them specifically for this particular situation.

WZFF exclusive LONGSWORD BOMBING RUN MYTHIC REQ at level 9, ONLY available in the final round. Cuz in regular PVP based WZ that would just be stupid. Something that will do decent damage to the boss, but will also help you clear out the riff raff and buy you some breathing room to light the boss up.

But getting back to my point about having a classic version, the biggest appeal to me of Classic, is that you keep going until you get annihilated and every set the modifiers are added and the odds get stacked more against you. Finite timed matches are fine, I don’t really have an issue with them being in matchmaking, but especially if you’re rolling with a group of 4 or more, having this option makes things way more interesting. Maybe they could make it a Custom game only type of thing like you could in Reach, where it’s a private match instead of MM only.

Just my thoughts.

WZFF basically took everything I disliked about Reach’s Matchmaking Firefight (Score Attack, Power Weapon spam, etc) and made it even worse. Actual life based, survival-oriented, fun Firefight would be so, so welcomed.

  • It actually has many bugs, look closer, the map where it is more evident is Skirmish at Darkstar where there appear extra pelicans for a second in the intro, also there’s a bug if you switch to the pistol at the beginning where the screen turns red and without weapon in HUD, also some soldier ans crawler AI spawn and despawn without reason.
  • I would love to see that, maybe as the one in Reach (I don’t remember very well the name), where you aim to some place and then a huge ammount of missiles and bombs fall there, it would finally fit for a level 9 REQ, but since it would be too OP on regular WZ and a lot more in WZ turbo it should be a one shot REQ.

the Reach Target Designator. I can’t believe I actually forgot it existed. Facepalm.

It really needs to come back for WZFF Only.
