Which part of the campaign did you find to feel the most classic halo. For me it was the part in reclaimer inside the forerunner building thing , with the sentinels flying around…
Definitely starting Dawn and waking up from Cryo, dem Halo CE vibes
Midnight and Infinity are my favorite. I love Forerunner because of the whole Master Chief vs Covenant vs Flood (Prometheans) feel. Dawn feels classic for obvious CE reasons. Shutdown reminds me of both Reach’s New Alexandria and Halo 2’s Regret levels.
The part with the Gondolas in Shutdown reminded me of Halo 2, and Dawn was certainly reminiscent of CE.
Also in Forerunner when the Prometheans and Covenant are fighting, totally reminded me of the Great Schism (in a way) and Covenant vs Flood
Johnson: “back in my day we didn’t have no fancy dancy tanks! We had a few sticks and a rock for the whole platoon! And we had to share the rock!”
Requiem.
Dawn was a disgrace to Cairo Station.
Forerunner was a disgrace to Two Betrayals.
Reclaimer was a disgrace to The Ark.

To you I guess.

Dawn vs. H1 Pillar of Autumn: former emphasized new players. Total disregard of veterans. Latter was good for both players
Dawn vs. Cairo: didn’t feel like the FuD was being invaded. The “wave” fight in the observation deck doesn’t even last 5 minutes
Forerunner vs. Two Betrayals/Gravemind: the former suffers from a lack of interesting encounters and matchups, lack of additional parties, lack of scale, and a poor level ending
Reclaimer vs. The Ark: enough said, The Ark had more diversity and better pacing

Dawn for obvious Halo: CE reasons.
Another moment is when Chief looks out onto Installation 03 (another Halo ring) in space as the classic Halo theme starts to play.
But most of all, the entire level of Requiem. The vibes were similar to exploring the Halo ring in the second level of Combat Evolved. When you come out of the cave and look out onto the Forerunner structures as the Requiem started to play, it took me back to the memories of stepping out of the escape pod as a young child.

I think Composer is more like Cairo tbh
All the above are pretty good classic campaign moments, I won’t argue against any.
But for me it’s that feeling of excitement and discovery…
-
Requiem, when you pass out of the wreckage and see mammoth Forerunner structures floating and moving in the distance.
-
Composer, with the impressive skybox of installation 3 and the asteroid field
-
Midnight, as you look up out of the composer and see Earth, big as can be. Or when you’re flying your broadsword and see all those capital ships engaged above you.
Big skyboxes… always a Halo classic
The only part I got classic vibes from was being able to go postal on the marines in the hanger bay. It’s the closest thing to Firefight in Halo 4, but I used to do this in CE.

Won’t lie, I’ve done the same.
It’s funny how the Marines actually have tactics, work as a team, and aim when they’re against you; but they are next to worthless when they are working with you.
Fight the Marines at the beginning of Shutdown, their AI is actually very intelligent.

And if you manage to beat them you are rewarded with a Sgt. Johnson Easter Egg.
Dawn. Felt like I was getting out of the cryo tube in Halo: CE.
For me, it was getting in the Scorpion and Mantis in Infinity. The same feeling I had in other Halo games where it feels like the world is on my shoulders, and I have to destroy the Covenant as fast as possible because the universe depended on it.
I got a lot of good moments.
The campaign had a lot of Halo CE elements in halo 4 with some elements from halo 2/3 and reach.
On dawn inside the forerunner-whatever.
