Class Based Multiplayer

I was pumped when I heard Reach was going to be class based, but all we got was six variations of the same gun. Maybe Halo 4 will explore this in depth, because it could be awesome. In a perfect world, there’d be a ‘big spartan’ class, a ‘marine sniper’ class, maybe a vehicle pilot, whatever. Some actual visual representation of what class this guy is playing. There would be a seperate armoury for each one, and the way you invested in each class would show better for whatever you invest for anyway. Then you get into ‘preferred class’ and all that, so people could see what you’re reall good at and which class you’ve invested in the most. Think about it, slap some feedback, and lets change the world.

Definitely NOT. This just isn’t Halo. Just a question to you OP. Why do you like such a generic multiplayer system?

If Halo 4 is class-based I’m selling my Xbox.

Well, its a whole new trilogy. If the gameplay was anything like the last set of Halos, wouldn’t that be worse? And in fact, adding classes would deepen the game, not make it anywhere near as mundane as it gets now. What if someone doesn’t like the DMR? That person is basically screwed. Also, with classes that actually have class, armour might actually mean something.

Sorry that isn’t Call o Doody. If you don’t like a weapon than just switch to a different weapon. Class based gameplay is still the worst gameplaysystem a game could get. And it wouldn’t “deepen” the game at all, just unbalance everything and make the game totally frustrating. And armor is just a gimmick. It’s nice if you unlock it but that should it be.

I have Battlefield: Bad Company 2, CoD: Modern Warfare 2, and CoD: Black Ops. If I wanted to play them, I just need to pull out the disc and play. If I want to play Halo, I pull out Halo. I don’t want to pull out Halo and be playing Battlefield or CoD.

Or Street Fighter, if some suggestions on this forum are any indication.

Have you ever tried to play BTB on Hemmo without a DMR or the other one? Madness. If the class system is bunked, then we at least deserve a sandbox that doesn’t spoonfeed you the same bloody gun over and over. It gets dull when a single weapon solves every problem. Halo 4 should branch out from that.

And by class i meant a TF2 approach

The solution to that doesn’t necessarily involve making Halo 4 into Team Fortress 3.

Eh no. This Hemmo thing just isn’t a good map, that’s all. DMR is overpowered against vehicles but I still own guys with the magnum if they play with the DMR in a battle. Halo is a game based on skill and it should stay true to it.

God forbid there be some variety. there should definately be an option for what gun you want to start off with, IE when it is AR starts, AR , plasma repeater, or plasma rifle, or when it is precision weapon starts, NR, or DMR, or whatever weapon they have in 4 that is precision, not everyone likes the DMR or AR. I know, people will flame me for having an opinion aside from " everything must be the same, we must live in communist russia " rmmf eyes.

The DMR doesn’t solve everything. Rockets solve vehicles, snipers solve infantry and shotguns also solve infantry but in an up close and personal way.

Nope it isn’t forbidden to have a opinion here but the thing is that you have many class based games today like Battlefield, CoD, Homefront, Crysis 2…
Halo’s gameplay is still unique for console shooters and that it should be. You have alternatives to play when you want to play class based games.

Have you by chance heard of invasion?

Yes, noted. But Halo has plenty that TF never will. Vehicles, largescale maps, and an art style that ever-so-nearly graces on the cartoonish. Almost a Flash Gordon kind of feel, and I think Halo is being killed by it’s own realism. It was imitating COD that spawned the DMR, and killed Reach. Maybe a TF knockoff is the wrong solution, but Halo 4 needs its own niche that no game has done before. That should include prior Halo games.

Wait do you mean different weapon loadouts like in Elite Slayer or have to choose your weapons and earn them like CoD?

Yes, and halo will die if it doesn’t change a little over time, reach’s hange was a BIT too much, but ther eshould definately be a option to pick starting weapons, cuz not everyone likes the starting weapons, for example, me, I go out of my way to pick up the NR cuz i absolutely hate the dmr. And I know I am not alone. Yeah, dumb down the AA’s, or get rid of them, and change the speed back to how it was, but allowing people to choose their starting weapon is not a big thing.
