Class-Based Multiplayer Shooter: Halo + Overwatch

Apologies if this has already been discussed elsewhere on the forums, I ran a quick search and didn’t see anything about so I figured I’d make my own post.

The other day I had a thought for a new Halo experience. I’ve always like the idea of a class-based Halo multiplayer experience but never knew how it could be implemented well enough to really work and stay competitive. One of my favorite games is Overwatch. I love it. Then it hit me: what if there was a game that followed the same competitive formula as Overwatch but was based on Halo characters, weapons, and abilities? With all of the alien species and signatures characters in the Halo universe I think the possibilities would be endless.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I think that could be a smash hit and would be a refreshing take on the franchise. Has anyone had a similar thought?

Wrong that you mentioned your love for the product of a severe competition, as duplicating the solutions of the competition is like submitting oneself in admission that we are unable to think of anything better, unless the solution or technology has become widespread and standard, without clear distinction from whom it could have been borrowed. You have to create an illusion of genuity, best if you could prove that the thing emerges directly from the heart of the franchise or the formula it has been long embracing, intuitively standing as a natural further step in the unavoidable franchise evolution. Good if also you could prove how the company will earn money thanks to that without taking too much effort in development. They will then ignore you deliberately anyway because of fear you could actually sue them and demand financial compensation, otherwise just because you are an outsider and they simply know better, so what sensibly you can tell as a bystander. Not that I can actually evaluate your idea anyhow as I am a complete alien to Overwatch. But I liked Diablo2 years back.

Halo has always been about equal starts. It’s tried to deviate from that in the past with Halo 4 and Warzone neither of which where well received. I understand that those two examples aren’t exactly like what you’re suggesting, but I think the same would still apply. One of the most common complaints I hear about the Halo series is that it doesn’t play or feel like the classics did. That very well could just be nostalgia, but I still don’t think it’s a good idea to change anything too radically especially to fit in to the current gaming scene. I want Halo to be Halo and not whatever is trending in gaming at the time.

Just for the record, I’m not suggesting that as a replacement for existing Halo multiplayer, but rather as a standalone game and experience. I would never want to give up Halo’s arena-style multiplayer. Especially with the announcement a few years back that Halo would become an annual franchise I think it could be a cool idea for a spin off during one of the off years between mainline games.

Maybe like Reach firefight? Sure, I’d like to see that, but no extra health or higher damage like Overwatch.

What about tf2? does nobody remember that game?

That sounds much more plausible and I’d be willing to give it a try as a spin-off game.

I’m sure a lot of people do as it was pretty popular a while back, but Overwatch is much more relevant than TF2 right now in the gaming scene.
