I don’t think there is a single game on the Xbox that has a built in clan system. Yet, it is obviously desired in the community. They exist through silver accounts and matching gamertags. A proper clan system would just make them easier to manage and a more prominent feature in Halo matchmaking and XboxLIVE. I also believe it would draw in a larger player base, especially if it was fleshed out with ranked clan matches.
I am pretty sure the reason Bungie scratched the clan system was because everyone cheated in clan matches, but with the banhammer we have now I don’t think that is a valid reason to exclude them from Halo 4.
Some basics to what would be a great clan system
-Clan tab. List of all members (like your friends list)
-Different ranks for promotion purposes (maybe the leader could create the rank names and privileges of each rank)
-The clan you belong to would be visible in your service record (some details of the clan maybe)
-Ranked clan matches(4v4, 8v8). Would require everyone in the party to be in the same clan in order to enter mathcmaking. Your clans rank would be displayed in your service record.
I honestly believe this would be one of the things that could bring Halo back on top. Hopefully 343i’s does too.
Good idea. Bad implementation for play listing. Granted I have no clue about even the beginning workings for playlist selection and distribution, but the idea of having separate categories just for clan matches sounds more like it would work for ranked MLG people then players. How would you be able to search for competitive and social clans? How could it operate with notes to beginning clans? 'm just seeing too many possible issues with it. I like the idea, don’t get me wrong, but i just can’t see the details working out…
Honestly, I never understood why they took clans out in the first place. Halo 2 had one of the most basic yet fun clan set-ups I’ve seen on XBL. It was always cool to see what clan different people you played were in. I would certainly love it back, I don’t see why it can’t happen since it was possible six years ago.

The playlist would just be a regular ranked playlist, with the only exception being everyone on a team has to be from the same clan. You would search for a game just like you do in Team Slayer, and the ranking system would separate the skilled clans from the unskilled ones just like it does in any ranked playlist.
You could also make it so that you can only join or leave a clan once every 3 months or whatever, to avoid people creating new clans just to go through the ranks.
Nothing wrong with being a lone wolf…in fact i think when people say “Team Player” all i here is "Help me get a MOAB in COD by shooting down all their kill streaks and sacrificing yourself for me.
