Clan Support

Dear 343

The one thing i would love to see in halo 4 would be clan support. It was after halo2 as we went into halo3 that clan support was removed and imo it was definitely an error to remove it. It was basically like having two friends lists, one filled with your private friends and another a large group (often 100 as this was the max) of random people to invite or join for custom games. The main reason this was so popular was the matchmaking in halo 2 was a bit of a mess from modders to glitchers it was hard to ever get a decent game. So we spent all our days playing customs. Clan battle playlists and the like were included in halo2 which allowed for a competition but this isn’t necessary, instead it could used as an easy way to play with people that have similar interests. For example a forge clan or grifball clan. The active roster feature was great but another possible tab could be a clan one. I think it would greatly the multiplayer experience, what you guys think?

Every Halo 2 player I have talked to definitely misses the Clan aspect of Halo. It was awesome in Halo 2. Like you said, it was like a second friend list. Clan matches were cool as hell too. I think it would fit perfectly for Halo 4.

It was axed for the same reason you want it back, it was a second friend’s list and Microsoft told Bungie to take it out for Halo 3 more then likely. It’s not in their power to bring it back however clan support can still happen, just not the way it was but I fully support clans in Halo 4 so they’ll think of something I hope.

343 i think it’s time to bring back proper clan support back to Halo, hopefully doing so you will encourage other developers to also add proper clan support so that clans actually mean something. Honestly since Halo 2 i cannot remember the last game that not only supported clans, but also had an actual clan buddies list, with invitation only clans and a clan playlist where clans can go heads up without the need for third party sites. The Halo games are a few of the games that actually have added funtionality to the Xbox guide, like being able to see people Service Record through the Xbox Guide while playing Reach. Use Halo 4 to take that kind of thing to a step further, then totally take it to the extreme with Halo 5 on the NeXbox.

That would be pretty awesome. I didn’t play much of Halo 2 to get a feel for the clan system but I heard it was really good. I also think they should bring it back.

I was really hoping that Clan Support was going to return for Reach, but it is just another thing this game missed on.

In Halo 2, the Clan you were in acted like another friend list. Back then you could join up in customs with your fellow clan-mates or run some matchmaking, even if they weren’t on your friend list to begin with. I think that Clan Support made the custom game experience better in Halo 2. It really felt non existent in Halo 3.

amen

Yaa Halo 2 was the last game to make you feel like you were in an actual clan without having to look for outside sources like gamebattles. When it comes to emblems maybe they can allow for people to create custom emblems for their clans. Maybe there can be a normal personal emeblm on a spartan and there could also be a different set of emblems for clans that allow for more customization options. Any other ideas you guys think 343 can do with clans?

Clan support can be back and it can be better than before. Why? Simple. MS OWNS Halo and OWNs the 343. If 343 wanted to add a feature to Halo that no other game has then it should be no problem making it happen because 343 is MS.

I highly doubt this is the reason it was removed. There are titles that have clan support on the 360 (though I can only think of MW2 off the top of my head).

I would have to guess, if anything, the reason clans were removed was because of groups on bnet, but who knows.

Your argument is invalid due to the simple fact that no other game actually adds a whole other group of people in a seperate section capable of holding 100 people in it. It litterally was a second friends list accessible only through Halo 2. As long as they were on Halo 2 aswell you can send messages, join games, and invite them to games. But i don’t think that’s why they removed it because you gotta remember bungie only did what was possible, so if they added clan support in the way that they did then it must have been ok and not a problem at all. Back in the day bungie removed clan playlist in MatchMaking because it supposely wasn’t getting enough play. So i figured if they felt that clans weren’t really being used as intended then i guess they just decided to just remove it.

Many true fans will agree that not having a Clan feature in Halo 3 and Reach hurt custom games. The clan system in Halo 2 was perfect in connecting people together, having reliable team mates, and just having a good time.

In my own experience i have not played a custom game since maybe the launch of Reach and honestly just miss the times of Tower of Power, Zombies, and clan battles. Sure you can join clans with their own web pages but in Halo 2 it was so stream line that you just had to press a button then you were part of a clan. you didn’t just play for yourself but to show off your skills as a clan and try to topple the clan giants like KSI.

does anyone else agree?

I would love for the in game clans to return along with clan match.

Clans were fun and I’d like their return, but they didn’t hurt customs. We had the friends list and recent players list for getting customs together.

I miss this option so much. It was also like a second friends list. I loved going into matches and seeing otheres people clans. Then battling them.

Actually, other games do this all the time. When I last played a Blizzard game I must of had 7 different friends list that I could access while playing WoW.

Three different arena friends list
a Guild friends list
a Friends list
a Global Friends list
and a Blizzard Friends list

and I’m sure they’ve added more since.

But Clan support is much Much MUCH less about the friends list, and more about supporting Clans.

I would like to see clan support come back in the form of team ratings and rankings.

Hi their being a hardcore halo fan who has played all the games from the start of time it seems i thought I would take the time to ask a question about the upcoming Halo anniversary and Halo 4 games.

Now one of my fav halo games was halo 2. One of the reasons I played halo 2 was for the awesome Clan system where you could create your own clan different from your friends list and do clan matchmaking. This was truly amazing and infact was one of the first clan things I had seen fully structured in any game. Ever.

Now about my question why was this awesome amazing fantastic feature taken out and will it be placed in the new up and coming halo games and if not have you considered it. I know I loved it and it gave me a better way to find a clan with people i could meet rather then going online making a long clan creation forum inviting them to my friends list if it wasn’t full changing my gamertag(Which I Hated doing) creating a forum account blah blah blah. Wouldn’t this be made so much easier for the community if it was already built into the game.

Well that’s my big question if you could please get back to me and not just ignore this would be awesome thanks.

-(remember doing clan matches against other clans at your own clans level matching your skill against people who were similar to yours creating a greater compition during game sessions) I really loved this feature please BRING IT BACK !

I wouldnt mind, cause it was so easy back then to make customs games.

Not exactly sure if it’s 100% not possible but, way back I made a thread about how they should put the clan system in Halo Reach and I got a bunch of replies how it had to do with the xbox 360 itself and it won’t work.

I loved that feature in Halo 2. It would be really cool if they implent it in Halo 4.
