What ever happened to the clan support that Halo 2 had?..it was amazing and idk why they scraped it in the subsequent games. Does anyone know if it will be back in Halo 4?

I think there will be since Frankie was talking about letting the community stay connected and something about tracking “groups” which by that I think he meant clans. So I actually do think there is an in game clan grouping option again. I can’t link to the exact video though, It was a while back.
Im hopeful for something similar to Halo 2s system…

It was a great system. I hope there’s something similar. There’s definitely a lot that they haven’t shown us so who knows.

The answer to that is basically clans and clan-based FPS were popular at the time Halo 2 came out. People were used to playing FPS in organized matters as before XBL the only way to play Xbox games online was XBC and set up your own custom lobby. Clans were really an extension to be able to easily organize games online.
Fast forward to today, the opposite is true. You’re average gamer is looking to get the most games in possible in the shortest amount of time. That is why things like join-in progress and individual rewards are prevalent, because online gaming for many is a non-sociable experience as contradictory as that may sound. This way you dont have to do any organizing or work to get a party together to fully experience the game, you just need yourself. The same thing happened with some MMO’s in fact, WoW raids/dungeons used to be put together by players in trade channels or you would do them with your guild, now all you need to do is enter the Looking for Raid tool and wait until you are qued for a dungeon/raid. Of course that is not all MMO’s, but I foresee it happening in more of them in the future. Basically, the casual gamer is king in this day and age. If it doesn’t appeal to the “majority” like clans it is most likely not going to be on the priority list.

“Clan support” was supposed to be out with Halo 3. MS even did big announcements about it but it never happened.
