Clamber vs auto clamber

When comparing to Halo 5, the non-auto clamber feels a little hit or miss. Maybe I’m just not timing it right, but in H5 you can just hold jump to get the clamber, this doesn’t seem to be the case in this flight.

Yeah there is no “hold to clamber” option. And I don’t understand why. That would be my preference for sure. It’s as if they tried to make clambering more difficult and then backtracked and gave us this auto feature.

But auto clamber definately seems inferior to holding, because you don’t get to choose when it happens. So it just feels very intrusive and takes control away from the player.

How do you clamber in Infinite I turned it on Auto but I have not noticed it activate automatically

Just tap jump while looking at a higher ledge you’d normally have to press jump a second time to clamber. I had mine set to auto clamber. I have hold to clamber in 5 and…lots and lots of times my spartan would clamber the dumbest things at the worst of times. Last flight none if that happened to me and I hope it never becomes and issue for me like it did in 5.

TIL I didn’t know what clamber meant, LOL I thought it was the ability in Halo 5 to hover.

Lol I don’t blame you bro. Halo 5 is the first place I’ve read that word. Other games I think that’s called mantle.

The official word used to hover is stabilize. I actually do miss that ability to most.

Agreed there were a ton of times on BTB where I was scaling a rock I thought only to fall I do like the ability to just press “A” to climb up.

I didn’t realize that something was different, but found myself missing ledges I assumed I should be able to clamber onto a lot.

I feel like they did a pretty good job with auto clamber it doesn’t seem to activate when it doesn’t need to, allowing me to focus entirely on crouch jumping, but giving me the ability to fix mistakes or land otherwise slightly out of reach jumps.

It’s a good compromise. Making the importance of skill jumps more apparent than Halo 5 did.
