Ive been hearing how people think that skill jumping (crouch jump) is gone but imagine the possibilities you have with new the new features example. I do a typical grenade jump but by sprinting at the grenade then jumping right before it blows up now when it does blow up you can use the thruster pack to zip over to a ledge and then clamber up it. Now I dont know about you guys but that sounds like a skill jump. What other combinations can you guys think of I would like to hear them.
That combo you described would put you in a major dissadvantage and wouldn’t bring you up high because thruster brings you down and sprint doesn’t allow you to reach the same heights jumping in the normal state would.
Crouch jumping allowe you to have the same height but your landing point, your feet, is raised. A skill jump should put you in advantages and reward you for using SKILL, not put you in dissadvantages/advantages for using a pat on the back because you can’t jump properly.
Ground Pound alos removes the element of crouch jumping. If you release from crouch mid air you’ll be brought down and fail, that’s why holding crouch in from the start of the jump is the safer way of performing a crouch jump. Now with Ground Pound you won’t be able to do that because just holding it for a split second will bring you hovering which cancles it.
Clamber is a sad excuse to not being able to crouch jump and Ground Pound removes the oppertunity to do it.
Crouch jumping still exists in Halo 5. Watch this: - YouTube
The Ground Pound (CROUCH button) can lift you up a bit.
There are still skill jumps in Halo 5.

The first jump was clamber, not crouch jump. Notice how the gun is lowered and his hand reaches up? That’s clamber. If he was crouch jumping none of that would’ve happened. The one with the Ground Pound though is rather interesting and looks like something worth doing but at the same time not. It takes too much time to perform and makes too much noise if you’re using it to either run away or backdoor the enemy. Not saying it’s bad, just pointing out it’s wrongs even though it’s a nifty trick of using the most unused, unneccesary ability of all Halo.

I know you fall a bit with thrusters but what I mean with sprint is it gives you momentum to the jump not that you get higher with it. What im saying here would all take a second to unfold and with thrusters it means you can get to a ledge that crouch jumping couldnt get to. With the short burst you get from the thrusters you might fall but clamber is for when you just fall short of the ledge.

And there we have the removal of skill. If you miss your jump, clamber is there to save you because you’re not skilled enough to hit the jump. And grenade jumps are not viable in matchmaking. Your combo is still just a slap in the face. Sprint into a nade (shields removed), jump off to a ledge, thruster, miss? Nah just clamber because your logic is flawed and you suck at jumping, and you end with being in a loaction which you’re extreamily vournable in. It’s not worth wasting a nade to get to a place ending in being no shield and everyone knowing where you are because you’re heard with both thruster, nade and your spartan yelling “UGGHH”.
Your argument here is too flawed and underthought. Scrub alert, scrub alert

You can cancel auto hover. You when you cancel it hover is activated by sprinting while in mid air.

You’re so stubborn. Who cares if jumps take skill? Either way, they still take skill, the distance you can jump is just longer.

Exactly this guy gets it your getting either angry or annoyed with me because your not understanding that you can get to places further away than a normal crouch jump heres a scenario. BTB you have a sniper but you need higher ground and you want to try get to a ledge that is higher than you can jump and further than you can reach (this is on the basis of there being a high place that your not meant to actually get to) what do you do?

It doesn’t remove hovering for Ground Pound which is used for the combo.

Skill in jumping is a major factor for Halo and in Halo 5 jumping doesn’t take much skill. Just sprint and clamber, what’s the skill in that? You automatically climb with no effort whatsoever. Everyone can do it, it’s not skill if everyone can do it. Crouch jumping took skill because it’s hard to master and learn and not everyone knew how to do it correctly just like you.
Jumping is one of the key points for Halo’s movement strategies and if you just remove the fact that you need to train to make it perfect then you just single out the difference between players.

Then nade jumping would be reasonable because you’re in a safe spot at all times. But the clamber function is what removes the skill in jumping. There’s no effort in it and it removes the fact that some people reach to places better than others because they know how to jump in a skilled manner.

Crouch jumping wasn’t hard most people I knew could do it sure you had to push the crouch button once you’ve jumped sounds alot like pushing the clamber button once you jump and by that meaning clamber is skilled and yes I know making the jump wasn’t always defenite and clamber is I see your point but im saying you can still combine clamber into skill jumping.

The thing that makes crouch jumping skilled compared to clamber is that you can fail to crouch jump but you can’t fail a clamber.

yes i did mean that but i still think clamber will be good for skill jumping i agree with your point and to a degree think crouch jumping is better but at the moment it looks like clamber has potential still i haven’t played it so i cant say but yes crouch jumping can fail and i mean fail badly but if you get it the satisfaction is amazing and clamber will not have that stisfaction but if you combine different manuevers you might get that satisfaction from it again its just speculation because i haven’t played it.

I’ve played the Beta and there’s not much satisfaction to get no matter what combo you do, it’s far to easy to get to places with it. It’s not the same kind of satisfaction, I’ve tried numerous combos like Jump forward, thruster backwards and clamber back up at the ledge I jumped from to juke my apponent. It didn’t feel good, it felt cheap and…noobish. Clamber is logical but it destroys for many.

It looked pretty good to me.
I hope spring-jumping returns. This whole ground pound on crouch thing has got me worried.
