Choosing "Your look" in the Halo Universe...

I can’t seem to pick one that really MEANS SOMETHING! Helmets can come and go (ODST for example, alot of people were upset about that), but your armor is basically your face and what not.
I, like many people, want to leave my mark in HALO and be part of it. In the first 3 Halos I wore the Mjolnir Mark V and VI, Reach I wore the Operator, and now in H4 I wear the Scanner; a hideous helmet, with a respirator and a giant disk reader on top! It was to me the only one that stood out from the rest. I don’t necessarily want to stand out, but I want to belong in this universe atleast.
So how do you choose your look/ helmet/ armor? What is the Halo 4 look?
A bit early, but when Halo 5 comes out, what should we expect? How should you look? Should helmets return, should attachments return?

No young one, Bungie must return…

I use the recruit prime skin in full, with green visor with Blue and White. My fave so far. And the rogue outfit.

> No young one, Bungie must return…

Batman to Gordon
“And what if he doesn’t exist anymore?”

My armor choices have always reflected the following themes.

1: Sleek, I don’t want bulk or big. I HATE big chunky armor in all games.

2: Practical, I want to actually look like I am supposed to be there. I don’t want to be a unicorn or a storm trooper.

3: Slightly Realistic, this is just both 1 and 2 coming together but it also means that it should be something that looks like it offers effective protection.

This is why I usually always have Recon helmet. I find it actually LOOKS like a helmet. The visor is big enough to allow full field of view with nice protection and no bulk.

My armor will adjust as I unlock more, but I highly doubt I will ever change helmet.

I rocked the EVA in h3 and reach but when I saw the locus helmet i knew i was no longer going to wear the EVA

> I rocked the EVA in h3 and reach but when I saw the locus helmet i knew i was no longer going to wear the EVA

I always laughed so hard at the EVA with blue visor in reach… It looked ridiculous, I referred to it as the “Fishbowl Head”.

You saw so many people using it too during the first few weeks because people used whatever they most recently unlocked for no reason. It was funny to see.

Nothing against regular EVA though, just the blue visor looked dumb to me.

Only a few helmets really looked "halo-y’ to me.

I use scout as an ode to H3. Plus of all the helmets I had to chose to go to actual war in in the haloverse it would be scout

I have never stopped wearing Recon since I unlocked it from the Vidmaster Challenges. First thing I wore in Reach? Recon. What I will always be wearing in Halo 4? Recon.

Recon helmet is Bungie’s mark on Halo. You cannot remove it.

As for my overall armor, I try to make my self look like a mastery at stealth, such as an assassin. I go with full dark black armor with a slick black visor. And some light armor to increase my agility on the field. Well, it does nothing, but it makes me feel fast.

lol that shows how much I played reach I didn’t even know it came in that color I always used the plain one till I noticed that a blackish version was available. In 3 it reminded me of bumble bee so thats what I rocked.

I’ve always gone Scout in all games.
I miss my scout torso in Reach, I loved that burlap sack on my back, kept me cosy.

Scout, then Rogue torso for the BA back plate things and whatever forearms-shoulders-legs that look the most sleek and minimalist.

Go for something that matches your style, if you don’t want to because “everybody is rocking Orbital” then go get something more individual, but still appeals to you.

I like heavy weapons and playing support.
So I go with big bulky armor to line up with my weapon/play style preferences
(and my color choices of brown/yellow I think goes well with that)
I was a big fan of the EOD helmet in reach, I like it in 4 but I am trying out others.
Basically if it looks chunky and thick I like it

I’ve always liked CQB with yellow and blue colors. In Halo 4, I may stick with recruit.

Maybe some day someone will realize that the forge could be used to design your own custom armor if you gave it the right pieces and abilities.

In Halo 4, since most armor comes in sets, unlike Reach, I felt obliged to wear full Warrior.

> Maybe some day someone will realize that the forge could be used to design your own custom armor if you gave it the right pieces and abilities.

Pff, they can already design stuff. There was a tech demo for Halo Reach somewhere that you could make it easily on your own on some website.

We all know in this day and age they have the ability for people to make it and upload custom armor and all it would need is community approval.

The reason they will NEVER do this is because…

Why pay $60 on ebay for some unicorn armor when you can just MAKE it? Where will all these IDIOTIC store exclusive pre order bonuses go?

In terms of H4 armour sets that have the traditional ‘UNSC’ look about them, I’d say Recruit and especially Air Assault (which looks decidedly like the Halo 3 ODST helmet) are good fits - that’s why I use AA, combined with my Reach-era ‘Spartan Swords’ emblem and all-blue armour.

Granted, I’ve tried to use all blue, with as close to the original Mark V gear and some kind of crossed swords/knives emblem, as possible, since that’s what I favoured back in the days of the original game (I still use that on Halo PC - yes, I’ve STILL got the old war-horse installed on my computer, for nostalgia’s sake!).

Should have Legendary nailed soon, at which point I’ll be glad to rock the Mjolnir Mk. VI suit and gold visor - IMO, it’s the most typically ‘Halo’/‘UNSC’ look available.

As for the other suits, some are better than others, but even cool-looking ones like Venator and Oceanic just look somewhat out-of-place in the Halo universe - almost like they’d be just as well-suited in a totally different sci-fi setting.

My favorite has mostly been the EVA, but this version looks so different. Now I swap between Air Assault and Orbital, but I wish you could remove the painted skull from the visor. I like those airborne/space-ready suits because it helps me feel like I belong to a highly mobile strike force that can be deployed anywhere and any time.

EDIT: I’m waiting for the day they release the SPI armor that the original Spartan IIIs were equipped with…

As long as the armor doesn’t look ridiculous it doesn’t really matter, color makes armors pop or look like -Yoink!-. Good contrast in colors helps and cool/bland colors can look okay but certain colors really make armor stand out, also matching the secondary color with your visor color makes a spartan look better.

I wore ODST in Reach, ODST in ODST, and Recon in Halo 3. In Halo 4, I wear full Recruit armor with parts from Recruit Prime and occasionally switch to the other armor pieces such as the Deadeye helmet, and full Venator RPTR armor.

Recruit is the best-looking armor in Halo 4 imo. Looks like ODST and Spartan armor smushed together.
