There needs to be two modes one that refills your ammo and let’s you start off with the weapons you had in the last level and the other that start you off with preset weapons what do you all think

Not really a fan of it.

The developers usually start us with a particular gun and ammo count because it makes sense in the scope of the mission.

Imagine if they let me carry my sniper rifle from Reach’s third mission all the way through the game, with the extended ammo count.

I agree drewerth, it would be overpowered in some missions. It would be cool, but it wouldn’t work that well in the actual game.

If you say so but I disagree with you

Depends on the situation I guess.

If you’re just walking from Point A to Point B for two missions, sure why not. But if the story demands you start with a certain weapon (Going on a stealth mission, or your pelican crashed, you were taken hostage and imprisoned like Crimson was in SpOps, etc) then you keeping that rocket launcher from five missions back doesn’t make a lick of sense.

As said above, it depends. In CE, when you finished the second mission, you board a Pelican with one set of weapons. Then in the third mission, you started with a new set of weapons that were necessary for that level. If you started T&R with an AR and shotgun, the level would get really annoying since you needed a sniper rifle at the start.

But if you finish a level and the next level starts immediately where the last level ended, then keeping the same weapons makes sense. So again, it just depends.

I understand what you’re getting at, OP, and on one level I appreciate the idea of loadout continuity from mission to mission. However, as others have pointed out, campaign missions are designed with particular loadout in mind, with certain available weapons for pickup throughout. I think trading this intentionality of the level design for a bit more continuity would be a net negative.

But, if they decide to go with it, it would be a very interesting first for the series.

There’s an old post I did where I suggested loadouts you could start with and if there is a mission pacific weapon it will be in every load out you have to choose from the only thing that would be different between the loadouts is it second weapon

I thought Halo 2 struck a good balance with this. There were missions that were essentially “part 2” of a prior mission (eg., Regret / Delta Halo) where you could carry your weapons into them from “part 1.” Otherwise, you started off with a preset loadout. If Infinite has something like that, it could work well.
