Choose One Returning Character

So far, it seems safe to assume that both the Master Chief and Cortana will be returning in Halo: Infinite. If you could choose one other character (and only one) from a previous Halo game to appear in Infinite, who would you choose and why?

Some possible candidates to include:
343 Guilty Spark, Lord Hood, Thel 'Vadam, Rtas 'Vadum, N’tho Sraom, Usze 'Taham, Captain Cutter, Professor Anders, Veronica Dare, Edward Buck, any Alpha-Nine member, Jun A-266, Doctor Halsey, Tom Lasky, Sarah Palmer, Andrew Del Rio, the Didact, Spartan Thorne, Roland, Glassman, any Blue Team member (Kelly, Fred, Linda), any Fireteam Osiris member, Governor Sloan, the Warden Eternal, Atriox, Isabel…
(Just to give you some ideas)

Avery Johnson!

In all seriousness, though, Buck.

I’d want all of Blue Team to be there. But if I have to pick only 1, I’d go with Kelly, John’s closest friend.

Atriox!

Imagine the Avengers Endgame scene where Ironman, Thor, and Captain America are about to start fighting Thanos. Now imagine a similar scene where it’s Master Chief, The Arbiter, and Atriox lined up and getting ready to fight Cortana and The Warden Eternal. I get goosebumps thinking about it.

This would be so cool… just saying

i only would want the arbiter brought back… even if i could choose more, i probably wouldn’t.

Tough to choose… from the entire franchise? Atriox. His Banished could make for a very complex and interesting third faction.

But if I limit my choices to those who were in previous FPS titles, I’d like to see Lord Hood. If we are trying to rejuvenate the franchise and return it to its roots, then Hood would be a great candidate for such a task.

I would like to see Rtas 'Vadum return more than any other character. 343i have just dropped him like a hot potato.

I would like Jun from Halo Reach to return, he’s still alive in the lore so it could be possible even if he was only in one cut-scene

I’m not sure if there’s any room in the story 343i are trying to craft for a lot of older characters, but I do hope Lasky returns and is expanded on. He has a lot of potential that was squandered in Halo 5.

While the scene you described feels a little too fanfarey to me, the idea of Atriox disgruntledly teaming up with the Master Chief and Arbiter to fight a shared threat would be very interesting to see in-game. I’m sure Atriox would have some pre-existing form of relationship with the ex-Surpreme-Commander of Particular Justice, whether or not they’d actually met; and I feel he’d have been aware of the Master Chief during the Human-Covenant war as well. That is a really intriguing idea. If this ever comes to fruition, I just hope its done by a terrific writer. Two thumbs up from me! :stuck_out_tongue:

If we see Buck again, I’d really like to see more of Dare along with him. I’m sure it’d be incredibly enjoyable to watch Fillion and Helfer’s characters interacting again on-screen after everything that has happened in the lore. I believe Dare to be a crucial part of Buck’s character who hasn’t been nearly explored enough in the games. Their dynamic was great in ODST, but I’m sure so much more could be done.

I like Dare fine, but the remaining members of Delta proper would probably rank higher on my list than her for making an appearance in Infinite; granted, she’s definitely a huge part of the ODST nostalgia magic that I’m vulnerable to.

Given the events of Forbeck’s New and Bad Blood novels centered around Buck and Delta, Mickey seems to be the most interesting foil for him now. But having Dare back would also be cool for sure!

I’d love to see Spartan Locke return. While his center stage presence was somewhat controversial, he was a fresh character who could develop into something great. Maybe in his own game/storyline. I’d like to see him as a supporting character in the campaign, like maybe he leads Fireteam Osiris on a supporting mission in parallel with the Chief’s. Some chacter development for Locke would be extremely beneficial. Who knows, he could be set up to eventually take over for the Chief as the primary protagonist in the future.

That’s my take on the matter.

Its a bit fanfarey but it would be incredible! “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”. While Atriox may not be a fan of The Arbiter (obvious reasons) and the UNSC, I could see a temporary alliance so they can take down Cortana and The Forerunners before going their separate ways. We could also talk about the Flood being in the mix but that’s a different conversation.

I’ll cheat here and pick two: Arbiter and Shipmaster Rtas 'Vadum.

I completely agree, I loved him in Halo 4, but he was not really interesting at all in 5 in my opinion.

That would be sick if he was in the game for a bit. Idk if should be in the game the whole time because people would get distracted by him lol. Maybe even a reference or two.

I could see him teaming for a short time only to turn around and just try to body master chief.

Thel’ Vadam, or Kelly.

Id choose buck, he’s awesome
