Chiefs personality changing?

well from what i think and see. or is it just me. does it seem like chief seems to be so used to working on his own. and in halo 4 i think hes gonna be ignorant to following orders because of that. just like in halo 3 when lord hood tried giving him orders about cortana. will chief become more badass lonewolf and does whatever he wants? or continue being the unsc’s puppet?

Didn’t Master Chief work in a squad of Spartans before Halo: CE? He’s been disciplined for military since childhood.

No I don’t think that, but he may be influenced by Cortana is she is indeed becoming rampant.

Chief will follow orders at first but I am 100% HIV positive that he and Rio won’t agree, leading Chief to go out on his own like a lonewolf. Then as Halo 5 is supposed to be the darkest Halo, I predict that Master Chief may be shunned or decommissioned as a ranking officer because of his disobedience

Master Chief has always been a follower of orders since he was six. You can’t just change that in one conflict (unless something very important happens like cortana dying important). In this trilogy they want him to become more of a leader of man-kind rather than some foot soldier to be ordered around. Now before the halo conflict he was never really a lone wolf but that changed on halo when his hyper lethal status was really shown and he destroyed a covenant armada but he earned that title way before that.

He still is a badass but a smart one too he knows when and when not to go in alone and rambo the situation unless it can’t be helped.

> Didn’t Master Chief work in a squad of Spartans before Halo: CE? He’s been disciplined for military since childhood.

This^^^ this exactly.
Master Chief does what he thinks is right. Master Chief will do both things for the UNSC in Halo 4 as well as things he thinks is right and they may not. Like he’s always done!

so in other words. it would be as if you’re a fugitive and be hunted by the unsc? mabe it will be chiefs death? :’(

He might resent authority, but he cannot deny a direct order, it’s not in his nature.
But perhaps a rampant AI will somehow chip away at that.

> so in other words. it would be as if you’re a fugitive and be hunted by the unsc? mabe it will be chiefs death? :’(

The UNSC can’t touch him he would screw everyone up or just turn himself in depending on the situation.

God I hope not. That’s so cliche in video games these days.

that may be. he has lost his best friend johnson. his idk “girlfriend” is going rampant. he may not be the stable chief he was when he was younger. but i would like to see what happens with 343 handling it

Chief is good at a lot of things, including lonewolfing it…but he only lonewolfed it during a majority of the Halo conflicts. Otherwise, the rest of his career he has followed orders to the letter.

> that may be. he has lost his best friend johnson. his idk “girlfriend” is going rampant. he may not be the stable chief he was when he was younger. but i would like to see what happens with 343 handling it

I wouldn’t call Johnson his best friend but he is a friend no doubt about that. And I would call cortana more than a girlfriend she has been in his head for about three years then the relationship was “put on ice” for about 4-5 years. They are basically married already all they need is wedding.

I wouldn’t call it ‘changing’ so much as ‘regressing’. Remember the very first things we see John doing? He was single-handedly kicking his school peers’ derrieres at King of the Hill, before he tried to ring the bell by himself during training.

It’s in his nature to do things his own way, and yes his military training taught him the value of teamwork, however what happens when the rigours and structure of military command start to fray, either tangibly and of their own accord or as a concept in Chief’s mind?

I dunno; everything is just mere speculation at this stage, but it’s been shown before that the lone-wolf thing is natural to Chief.
