Chief's Armor possibly the Mark VII?

I know in terms of canon and story, there’s no way Chief would have been able to upgrade to the MJOLNIR Mark VII Naomi-010 is wearing, but the difference between Chief’s armor and the Mark VI armor in Multiplayer is too much to ignore bar the helmet.

I was thinking is there a possibility that this armor is the new Mark VII? I know in the Prologue Spartan-II’s were already wearing this armor, but that could be due to not wanting to confuse new players or something.

No, its not. Its an art style change.

I’m pretty sure the back end of Forward Unto Dawn didn’t reconfigure the shape of its hull over 4 years too.

Chief’s armor even has the same damage he had in halo 3. Which also made a change or two to chief’s armor over halo 2 with no canon explanation. Same with arbiter’s mandible armor in 3, which he lacked in 2.

Think of it like james bond changing acter evety couple of years.

It can be explained with nanobots and/or artistic change.

MJOLNIR mark VI[CTN], that’d be nice!

> It can be explained with nanobots and/or artistic change.

This.

The canon reason has to do with Cortana using Nano Tech within the suit to change its appearance. For anyone who didn’t read the book Glasslands, it’s also just an artistic change. The graphics got better, so they made Master Chief look better.

The Mk VI in matchmaking is the standard Mk VI, like Chief’s armor in Halo 2 and Halo 3. It too has artistic changes to it.

It has been confirmed times and times again, that the armor he’s wearing in the campaign is the Mark VI.

It does have the artistic changes, but the details of the MM(Multiplayer matchmaking) Mark VI are too similar to 2 and 3 (shoulder pieces, chest piece, legs) unlike the so-called Mark VI in the campaign where the chest piece and shoulders are very very different (much more bad–Yoink-).

If it is an art style change (which I will come to accept one day) then why don’t we get these awesome armor pieces? Why the need to differentiate MM Mark VI and Campaign Mark VI?

I guess even if it’s obvious, I refuse to believe they simply decided to change the armor’s look specially when they have the original looking Mark VI armor available for use in MM.

The difference is that in campaign, all the Spartans have a one-colour undersuit (dark grey).

In multiplayer, we get a stupid looking two-tone, with primary colour and grey mixed up. It really ruins the armours lines. I don’t know who decided to change it only for multiplayer, but I’d certainly have an artistic word or two to say to them.

The appearance of MkVII is variable.

Naomi’s armour is MkVII, but in Thursday War, it is stated that she has it set to look like MkV armour

These nano-machine talk everyone’s having.
How did they get on board the Forward Unto Dawn?

Another one of these threads. No. Just no. The Chiefs armor in Halo 4 is just an upgraded variant of the Mark VI. The official explanation which, by the way, is pushing it. Cortana used nanotech to upgrade the Chief while he was still on ice (aka Cryo-Sleep). Rewrote his suit’s firmwire and updated it so the HUD would look more sophisticated for Halo 4.

Other than that, artistic changes and graphical updates meant the armor was going to change. It’s still very much the armor used in Halo 2/Halo 3. It was done to make him, quite simply, badass than he already was. He certainly stands out more IMO since his armor was a unique variant.

 1. “Slop is military slang for Nanoreagent Hydrocarbots - a suspension of nanomachines that renders nearly all carbon heavy matter into usable fuel for the UNSC’s ubiquitous internal combustion powerplants.”

This confirms UNSC possess Nanotechnology and had it around the time the Chief’s armor was made.

 1. In Campaign, players take the role of the Master Chief, the living legend of the Covenant War, a SPARTAN-II super-soldier wearing heavily modified GEN1 Mjolnir armor.

This confirms his Armor has been modified.

 1. [I noticed that the Mark VI armor for Multiplayer is not the same armor that the Chief dons in Halo 4. What type of armor is the Chief wearing then? -One One Seven

Very fancy, very custom, very unique “Cortana special” armor.](http://blogs.halo.xbox.com/Headlines/post/2012/09/05/The-Halo-Bulletin-9512.aspx)

This confirms the armor is customized by Cortana

 1. “Nanobots making repairs to Chief’s armor.”

This confirms Chief’s armor interacts with Nanobots

Now put all of this together and you have your answer: Nanobots were used by Cortana to modify the Chief’s armor while he slept in Cryo for 4 years.

Why wouldn’t mention that in the game.

What about the damage on the armor Chief has. That -Yoink- started in H2 … you see it in H3 and even now in H4.

In general… I was a bit dissapointed that we aint able to use the campaign armor in multiplayer… Overall the multiplayer in H4 has some bad armors man…

I think cortana an experienced hacker used the inflo for the markVII to upgrade John-00117 armor systems. Second thought found one on the ship

Was this really worth necroposting a 9 month old post?

@Slayerbeast170

Please do not Necro post.

sigh I read this whole thing before I realized! I blame my phone post times aren’t as dominant. Really though, is it just me or is this happening a lot?

The official word is that the Mark VI Master Chief wears was modified by Cortana during cyro-sleep to look like an original Mark IV design that Chief liked using the most during the Human-Covenant war. And I love the new art style specifically Chiefs armor, he looked very good in Halo 4.

Dangit me too, I didn’t realise this was a necro post because I immediantly scrolled to the bottom of the page… Sorry, P.S HOLY NECRO THREAD BATMAN.
