Chief talks way more than he should in campaign.

He’s a Spartan II, and all the Spartan II’s were known to be antisocial, have sociopathic tendencies, and just not understand people and social queues. They were just war machines. He barely ever spoke in the other halo games, so it’s not like he suddenly developed social skills. I don’t know if anyone else agrees with me but I think 343 should have just left him the same. Only talking when he needs to, he speaks when it’s so unnecessary and it just seems forced, adding more dialogue for him can be necessary, but they added TOO much it seems.

He barely spoke in the other Halo games, but in the books that pre-date 343i, he spoke quite often.

That was mostly purported by the mysterious interrogator in Halo 4. Even so, the Spartan-IIs do have some difficulty with socialization… but with other people, not their fellow Spartans. Chief was conversing with his squad mates he’s known for decades at that point, and his dialogue is focused on their objective: Cortana.
It seems logical that he would be able to interact quite easily with people he’s known since childhood.

Also, Grey team, Black team and Daisy kinda put a wrench in the works for Spartan-IIs being this ‘all-stoic, barely talk, difficulty with interaction’ notion people like to say they have.

He should talk more. Steve Downes has an amazing voice.

I understand that, like I said some of the added dialogue is necessary, but he would say things you never hear him say. When he fought alongside Johnson and Arbiter he would only speak when he was talking about the objective, but with his team he just says many things that seem forced like I said. Like things where if he didn’t say them, it wouldn’t of made a change. It’s just there to be there. That’s the dialogue I’m talking about, like saying “ access the data “ even though he’s doing it and there’s a waypoint on it, and when he acknowledges things going on when his team can clearly see what’s happening. Or when he kills someone and says “ you’re done “ like what? He never did that. Those type of lines just seem uncalled for and forced. Is that just me that thinks that??

I agree with you. Most of the dialog in H5 seems forced and unnecessary. They talk about the most menial things. I liked how Chief spoke a bit in H4. It was a different direction from prior games, but his conversations with Cortana suited what we knew about him.

Pretty much.
Also hi

I agree with that. More dialogue was acceptable, like the Cortana convos.
