Is anyone else bothered the Master Chief wasn’t even wearing any Mark 6 armor in the Halo 4 reveal trailer? I mean it’s a direct sequal of Halo 3 so why would his armor be different?
It’s been stated many times that a) the Chief’s appearance in the game is not the final design, he may appear quite different in the final game, and b) the events of the trailer do not depict actual events. That isn’t an accurate depiction of what will be seen in game, if John gets new armor it will be explained.

Thanks, I actually never knew that. I hope they don’t end up changing his armor for any reason.
If you have read Halo: Glasslands you will learn quite a lot about Halo 4. It also explain why Master Chief may not be wearing Mark 6
I’ll check that out, thanks.
Just to add on what they said, if youve seen the announcment trailer for halo 2 youll notice that the cutscene was radically different then the one in game.
Trailer: he flew out with only a BR
Actual cutscene: He gave the covenant back their bomb
Just to name an example.
And this trailer isnt even using the graphics from the halo 4 build. I cant wait to get a new trailer!

Yeah, Like the reveal trailer for Halo 3 and also the Starry Night Trailer for Halo 3, the starry night trailer would’ve been sweet to see in the final game. I guess I freaked out a little when I saw the armor. But yeah I agree with you I am really looking forward to a new trailer, hopefully at the VGA’s.
“Hey, you know that suit maintains and upgrades itself in cryo? It’s all nanotech” Thats a quote from Glasslands in reference to Naomi-010’s Mjolnir. I assume that quote is thrown in just for the sake of explaining the Chief’s armour in Halo 4.
From this I gather that not only did the Chiefs armour upgrade itself from Mark V to Mark VI in cryo after Halo:CE, but the Mark V and Mark VI armours aren’t different suits, but rather different setups of the same suit (with minor additions such as the optics)
Personally, I think its a kind of cheap way of explaining the armour change, especially when I don’t particularly like the new armour, especially the Helmet (to me it just looks like a japanese/anime reimagining of the Mark VI helmet). But thats all my personal opinion.

We already know they’re two completely different suits. The Mark VI was tested in Songham, Korea, then shipped straight to the Cairo where it was given to the Chief at the beginning of Halo 2. Also, if you read First Strike, you’ll find no mention of the Chief entering Cryo on his way back to Earth.

Ahhhhhhh. Fair enough. Its been years since I read First Strike. I was just making assumptions based on the quote.
I don’t think this really matters just because his armor is updated. New game means new changes. Its not like cortana is a man or something. Its 343i’s new trilogy so they are going to make the game look more different but make it look similar at the same time to make it look more unique in their own perspective.
Trailer = Not canon.

Nano-tech.
Can you guys stop using Glasslands? Naomi and Chief have two different sets of armor and it’s stated HERS uses nano-tech.
Totally Agree with govader501. The spartan II Naomi was said to have received the mk 7 version of the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor. According to Dr Halsey’s Journal, that would have been the last iteration of the whole Mjolnir armor program. However Masterchief received the mk 6 since Halo 2 or when the battle of earth started till the end when he was put to cryoslp after halo 3. So it is safe to assume he would be using the mk 6 in Halo 4 BY DEFAULT. Unless the developers develop the storyline somehow where he finally gets rescued by the UNSC and gets the newer Mk 7. However that is PURELY Speculative on my Part, so lets all wait and see people.
Someone in a another thread (sorry, can’t remember who exactly) suggested that since Cortana ( A hyper intellegent AI filled with Forerunner and Covie data) is on the ship plus all the resources available on the ship, she could have upgraded it.

Quite possible. She could have upgraded his armor to a kind of her own design.
Not. Cannon.
all the voices are different as well… if that was the actual turnout of the game i wouldnt buy it. ruining the context of where the last halo left off is just plain stupid. but hopefully and im pretty sure i know 343 is smarter than to change everything up

We don’t even know any of the voice actors yet other than Master Chief. He is the only voice actor thats is known that is in Halo 4 and it is the same guy that has been doing Master Chief.
