I dont know if this has been covered in another post elsewhere but I wanted to get it off my chest.
HOW IS LOCKE THE SAME SIZE AS CHIEF ???
At the end of Halo 4 when Palmer see’s chief and says “I thought you were taller” Chief is head and shoulders above Palmer in every single way. Chief is a genetically engineered super solider who has been trained for war since he was 6 and he is massive even when he was a human boy. In the Halo 5 cut scenes Palmer is a full head height above Locke and a much bigger Sparten, now when Chief meets blue team and Locke he is smaller than all of them.
Come on 343i get this sorted, Chief is not one of the masses he is biggest and the baddest Spartan 2 thats why Cortana chose him and other soldiers respect him, plus he is just a badass.
If you think I am talking nonsense go to google and search for Master Chief and Sarah Palmer look at the pics and see why Halo 5 size representation of chief is broken.

Uh…
I think Chief was picked by Cortana because he was the bravest and quite possibly the luckiest of all the Spartan-IIs. It also helped that the Chief was Halsey’s favourite and Cortana was created by her cloned brain: so they’d share some similarities (such as sounding like an civilian when John-117 first met her).
But I agree. Chief should be taller… if by a little. Sure the suit might add a little height but how would augmentation increase an adult’s height? I thought they weren’t as adaptable to augmentation as a child’s body was?

Agreeded on the selection process for Cortana, I think my comments were more on the fact it was me ranting lol but if you do read the fall of reach book and some of the subsequent fiction including the film Forward unto dawn and look at the Halo 4 footage John was always tall and big, VERY BIG. In the king of the hill contest on his home world where Halsey choose him for the spartan 2 program he was bigger and taller than all the other boys in the same age group fighting to take control of the hill.
Augmentation (the adding of titanium plates to the bone structure of the subject, for those that don’t know) wouldn’t have added anything really, but we have to remember they were also having chemical experiments on them to. If one of these would have been a growth hormone then they all would be bigger than a normal person.
I just think it’s amazing no one at 343 didn’t look at the footage and go “isnt Chief a little short?”, it would have been the first thing I would have picked up on
He’s 7’2" with armour and 6’10" without. Palmer is 6’9", with armour I assume.
Chief was a little more than a head taller than Lasky in the final in game cut-scene of halo 4. When you see him in the epilogue, he’s a head taller than Palmer, in armour. There’s no way Chief magically grew an extra 1’ or so that he’d need to dwarf Palmer in the epilogue like he does in the time it took for him to speak to Lasky and make his way down to the Spartan deck. Or Palmer magically lost 9" that time. Its just an error on the part of the animators. look to the in game models for more accurate height. Also the cut scene at the end makes another mistake. the pelican landing in new Phoenix does not have the correct landing gear for the back of the ship. without the gear lowering on the arms it would be back heavy and tilt backwards. John-117 is average height when comparing to other Spartans. For example:
Kurt-051: 8ft 2in
Sam-034: 7ft 10in
Jorge-052: 8ft (in-armor) 7ft 4in (without)
John-117: 7ft 2in
Paul Demarco: 7ft 1in
Carlo Hoya: 7.09 ft
Linda-058: 7.0 ft
Kelly-087: 6ft 11in
Gabriel Thorne: 6ft 10in
Locke: 6ft 10in
Palmer: 6ft 9in

Fair enough, I just did a load of reading on the augmentation process and also gone over some of the previous footage and latest footage. Seems that Halo 4 end cut scene is the incorrect one.
Plus there is this little bit from Halsey:
“He is neither the smartest, nor the fastest, nor the strongest of the Spartans. But he is the bravest, and quite possibly the luckiest. And in my opinion, he is the best.”
— Dr. Catherine Halsey to Cortana
Seems I stand corrected, still think the augmentation process must result in men and Women getting to a specific height. seems unlickly they would find so many tall people lying around lol
Rant is now finally over and I feel at peace hahaha

The games are horribly inaccurate when it comes to depicting height and size differences. Chief was only a head taller than Del Rio in Halo 4. Just to get a sense of how huge the Chief would be compared to a regular person, check out this picture of the Rock standing next to Shaq (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eYCTq-vR_Rg/UZZ9FdMEAvI/AAAAAAAAQ8g/ijnZp95WgjU/s640/The+Rock+Charles+Barkley+Shaquille+ONeal+Mark+Walberg.jpg). Shaq is about the same height as Chief and he makes the Rock (a 6’5 ripped guy) look like a kid from preschool and he is not even wearing MJOLNIR. Halo 5’s last cutscene actually depicts the size difference them correctly , where Chief stands at 7’2 and Locke is 6’10. (http://i.ytimg.com/vi/ha0IEqmlZ94/hqdefault.jpg) Also, I’m sorry but for some reason I cannot post proper links.
The Spartan IIs were subjected to a modified HGH formula (human growth hormone) to accelerate and enhanced their physique. The ceramic ossification only increased bone strength. Thier height was the result of genetic modification.
I agree there have been many inconsistencies with the new Halo games in comparison with the older ones. One that really bugs me is that when they show the Covenant in past events, they use the new armor instead of the Halo Reach variations. Halo 2 anniversary used Reach variations as well as Halo CE Anniversary, so after seeing grunts and elites in the storm armor variant in the fall of reach series, it kind of rubbed me in an annoying way.
Chief inside his armor is 7’2".
Sarah Palmer inside her armor is 6’9".
He’s really not all that much taller than her. He only looked taller than her in that one cutscene where he takes his armor off because she was on a lower platform, and the guys animating the scene wanted Chief to look tall and imposing.
> Speaking of hight is it just me or is the arbiter far to big in halo 5, when he was standing next to palmer he was twice her hight.
Thel 'Vadam on the other hand is 7’6" without any armor and while he is slouched. The scene you are talking about has Thel standing upright (not slouched) while also wearing armor, adding nearly another foot to his height. Which basically means he was nearly 9 feet tall (not counting his helmet) while standing next to Sarah in that scene.
He’s not. He’s plenty taller than Locke. His in-game model is the same size since we play as them both, BUT LOOK HERE. That’s Chief and Locke together. They’re not quite side-by-side. If you watch the scene, Locke takes two steps forward after Chief stops. So Locke is closer than Chief is, meaning even though Chief is taller than Locke in these images, he’s even taller still if Locke were to back up and stand right next to him. Putting Chief at a good 4-6 inches taller than Locke.

This is correct. Locke is 6’10" in his armor. Chief is 4 inches taller than him.
