Chief get's a new personality?

In a n interview with 343, I’m sure most of us have heard that Halo 4’s story-line will change the Chief’s character. Whether or not a lot seems to be up to 343 now, what do you guys think this will entail? Will this be good in your opinion bad?

I personally think something will happen to make the Chief darker as a Character, but I don’t think I’d personally like to see the Chief become like Kratos from God of War or Marcus from Gears.

Making him darker??? No, I don’t think so…

> I’m sure most of us have heard that Halo 4’s story-line will change the Chief’s character.

They have not said this. They’ve said they’re going to EXPLORE John as a character, not change him. There is a pretty massive difference between those two things.

Chief is a respectable space marine… Unlike Marcus and his gang of testosterone injected -Yoinks-

But on a serious note they wouldn’t change him as a character… that would be a bad way to put their mark on halo especially for the first game

This, his personality won’t change.

If anyone has any great fears for Chief to become some sort mopy, melodramatic drama queen that is way out character, then please, calm you’re selfs because this isn’t the case. So no, 343 isn’t pulling Another M here.

Chief’s character will be explored (as the guy i just quoted said) more in Halo 4 and he will be facing tough, if not impossible situations. He will still kick a ton of -Yoink- (as required by any well trained super soldier) and…not talk much.

To my great surprise, he is getting some dialogue lines DURING gameplay (finally). Glad to see that there is a character behind the helmet :stuck_out_tongue: The whole project your own personality and character idea falls flat when said character has been fleshed out before hand IMO.

Oh, I see, I apoligize then, I misunderstood them

> Oh, I see, I apoligize then, I misunderstood them

Not a problem buddy, we all have misunderstandings

Personally I would like him to make a few more jokes and puns like in Halo:CE

They never said they would give him a new personality, just flesh out his already existing personality from the books.

In the gameplay demo, I feel he still acted like the Chief we all know. He talked during gameplay a little bit, which I LOVE. It’s such a simple thing that immerses you, but a lot of developers stray away from it.

Up until now, the chief has had the personality of cardboard. He has to have a personality for them to change it.
