They won’t kill off the franchise mascot. If anything, he’ll be retired once Locke or some other character gets a bit more brand recognition.

I don’t follow the literature much but my cousin does and within reading this I entirely agree. Chief isn’t ready to go. I’m not ready to let him go especially to Locke.
If chief does die then it better be in a good way
I think he will go at the end of Halo 6 and Halo 7 woukd start Locke’s story or even maybe be the start of a new Halo Universe with new characters altogether. Chief cant go on forever, just like tv shows like yugioh, the whole cast went away of the original series and same with so many other shows. Even the new Star Wars trilogy coming out seems to look that way.
