How do you come to that conclusion? He’s still alive and the story keeps getting better and better.

Is like the patriarch just like Rick is off the walking dead, if she dies we will have to Riot. I personally think 343 is doing some great marketing on this game, but if chief dies we have to riot.
Chief can’t die, as we all know, Spartans never die…
I believe that they are going to phase the Chief out, id prefer that they found a way to keep him. I mean I haven’t played the game yet but I think the idea of blue team and Osiris clearing out enemy bases or fortresses together sounds pretty awesome. But if they phase the Chief out lets be honest we will all be upset if they kill him off but at the same time I cant see the Chief ever retiring and if they do decide to kill him they better make it an epic sacrifice.

I think it necessary the Cheif dies at some point in time. Probably heroically throwing himself into the sun to create a massive supernova. Or finding Cortana in Halo 7, and being integrated into the domain. Or exiling himself in a similar manner as to the Didact (a symbol that he is no longer needed, and now that I think about it, a suitable end to the series as a whole, where gods are no longer needed and Man can thrive on its own).
Edit: Actual character death need not be necessary. Merely a stepping down would be good. A phase, a transition. I do not see Locke becoming the main character, he is merely a soldier following orders in the hunt for the chief. Not exactly hero material. I’d more likely believe that… Well, damn, no one really can replace the Cheif… Well, end of Cheif is end of the need to read books or play games, or 343 will need to think of someone new and heroic to fill his shoes.
Edit 2: Just remembered . The Arbirter is suitable enough as a main character. Then again, he isn’t human, and thus is less relatable to players. Especially new players.
Edit 3: Cheif is obviously not going to die in Halo 5. Maybe 6. Maybe not.

All heroes must die, they can give him an honourable death and it will be fine, lets see for ourselves before starting to throw rocks at them.

I think that he wouldn’t kneel. He would certainly take off his helmet. Then forcefully pull Locke’s arms and gun to his forehead, and then command him with two words: Do it. Kneeling + Master Cheif = Division by zero.

I hope they DO kill Chief off. I think it would only add to the amazingness of the Campaign. No one can survive forever.
