I dont think chief is going to die i have been fooled to many times by that in past games but they might let us think hes dead then locke gets a game then they can bring the chief back probably be a stretch but i dont think their going to kill the face of halo there is no good way that can end but i would be interested in locke getting his own game i would think it be interesting and they need the arbiter back in future games

Granted if he dies or whatever in this one or not, so be it. And we move on and see what the 343 team has in store for the future of the halo universe.

343 is testing the water with a potential replacement for Chief, via Locke. As much as some of us longtime fans don’t like it, all the signs are there. Grand introductions for a new main character via Halo: Nightfall. Locke’s newer, better, shinier blue and silver armor vs. Chief’s dated green and orange beat-up armor is all but a flashing neon sign pointing to who the favorite son has become. The re-release of all Chief content bundled as the Master Chief Collection, potentially signifying the end of one era. What’s next, the Spartan Locke collection?
Something big is gonna happen in this game, and I don’t like the implications.
If Chief dies or gets removed, I’m likely to be done with Halo. But I’m sure that 343 and Microsoft know that 14 years of character development is a huge asset to squander, so I am hopeful that Chief will continue to be developed and remain the main face (er… mask) of the Halo franchise.
Why do people bring up his age he been in a cryo tube many times for long periodes of time even if he slowly aged he would look like hes in his mid thirtys pluse if you got a look at his face from halo 4 after beating the game on legendary it would also varify this

If Chief dies… I won’t be affected. Halo has been more then chief ever since Halo 2. Halo has evolved into more then just the Chief. Don’t turn into those Star Wars fans that were so upset by Chewbacca’s death in the New Jedi Order saga that they sent death threats to the author.
I do not think Chief will die in Halo 5 due to the Launch trailer (Halo 5: Launch Gameplay Trailer - YouTube)… in the trailer it says “Experience the beginning of the greatest hunt in gaming history” leaving me to assume that the hunt will continue in Halo 6…just a thought though
