Chief character not expositioned?

In this interview Frankie interview, he says that they’re not going to shove Chief’s life story down our throats in this game. Now many people seem worried that the game might not focus on Chief’s journey. However, I think possibly what he’s saying is that they don’t want to give so much exposition about the character in one game, but for it to feel more natural, show don’t tell. What do you think?

He was meaning that they aren’t just going to remove his helmet, show his face, make him act like a normal person, then kill him off all in one game.

I think that is pretty stupid given that what 343 with Chief in Halo 4 was fine. They took him out of his former shell of being a player self-insert, acknowledged that he was a character with his own personality and reactions to the world around him and then set him up for future development. Now they want to do development yet retain him as someone the player can project themselves onto? I don’t see that working. Granted Locke is there to provide a counter-view to Chief, but I have my doubts the Halo community at large will give a -Yoink- about what Locke has to say if it in any way offends Chief. People still whine about Palmer’s “Thought you’d be taller” joke as if she personally insulted the players mother.
