Go on.Serously, good find. I won’t speculate though as there seems to be a lot of deliberately confusing information regarding Halo 5’s story.
It’s things like this that make very excited for the story of Halo 5. Something tells me I’m going to be really upset when the campaign finishes (both because it’s over and possibly what happens since there is the potential for a great cliffhanger with Halo 6 coming 3-4 years from now).
My belief:
If you look into Halopedia (it does not tell lies) that Cortana will appear as a ghost to John 117 in the game. It says "there will be an ominous (perhaps evil) vision of Cortana. This could possibly be the reason why Master Chief has actually TURNED into a traitor so Master Chief isn’t truly a traitor. He will still be an important character in the game, still a Protagonist. A lot of people believe that Master Chief will take on a journey to find her. When he does find her, he will successfully find her but has no clue that she is a ghost instead of returning alive. That ghost of Cortana will be leading him down a dark path without even knowing it. Then, this is Locke’s turn to rise as a Hero to help try to “recover” the Master Chief. Save his mind and stop him from listening to this evil Cortana ghost. Something like this is possible.
Yes, the “she” is Cortana. The Domain probably uses hallucinations of Cortana to manipulate Chief, much like the Gravemind did in Halo 3. Halsey knows that the hallucinations aren’t actually Cortana, but John doesn’t. I’m assuming it’ll go something like this:
- Chief sees Cortana, who teases him with information on something or other to get him to do what she wants (“I know x about y, but you need to find me first”)
- Chief goes to find “Cortana”, ends up doing exactly what the Domain wants, all hell breaks loose
- Teams up with Locke to put an end to whatever he inadvertently started
- Hugs and kisses all around

Are you talking about the raid on Biko? That’s not why he went AWOL, the folks at Halopedia still haven’t added the update that ONI cleared John’s name in the last episode of HunttheTruth. He goes AWOL because Cortana’s ghost gave him that ominous warning.

John wasn’t announced as AWOL in HuntfortheTruth, it was a rumor going around and in a later episode he was cleared of that rumor. Fans had assumed that it was the reason why he’d gone AWOL in Halo 5 but that was not the case. The only time he is officially announced as AWOL is in reference to the actual events in the game.
Didact is now an AI because that was the only way to reach immortality. And as an AI he can change his Avatar to assume the form of Cortana!
Chief…is walking right into a trap! He’ll activate the Guardian to end all Guardians! Cortana was right all along “it’s not a cudgel, you barbarian”.
