Did anyone else feel it was symbolic in a lot of ways? I think it probably means either:
-
Its a “memorial of sorts”… But if this is the case… what about all his other spartan IIs… we don’t see them getting something… (A minor issue in terms of strictly GAME lore however)
-
Perhaps a hint by 343 that chief is actively looking for a way to “resurrect” Cortana?
-
Perhaps Cortona somewhat went rouge, amnesia, or reprogrammed by the Didact/Precursors, and is that giant “thing” and chief is trying to get her out… (least likely explanation)
*3) Why the clock…? I don’t see any reason for it besides maybe camouflage… His armor should support any obvious need.
thoughts, ideas? or am I just going crazy?
Cloak is simple, the armor is damaged. This is clear from the visor at the very least. The more advanced the armor the more you don’t want to get sand in it.
I was under the impression that her data chip was destroyed in the Didact’s ship. After all the terminal she was in was dematerialized. As for the cloak, it could be that 343 just wanted a little misdirection. They didn’t announce before the video started that it was made by anyone, it just started. Story reasons could be that his armor is damaged or the shielding doesn’t work like it should. We only saw his arm and his helmet which had a cracked visor.
I would hope that they leave Cortana dead. If they bring her back I feel like it would cheapen Halo 4 fantastic ending. And that is what I love about 343. They took what Bungie did and made it better. They are bringing everything from the expanded universe into the games. I’m not going to lie, when the Master Chief basically started begging Cortana not to leave him I teared up like a -Yoink-.
That is her chip, the chip she was in wasnt put in the terminal.
the chaces of Ancient foreunners and humans having compatible data ports are so unlikely i’m not even going to entertain the notion.
I find it to be completely symbolic, that John’s memories of Cortana are what’s giving him strength through the oncoming storm.
His body movement gave me a feeling of “This is risky, but I;m doing it for her.”
