Chief and Blue team have new armors like Osiris

Hello guys, I saw lots of people here saying that Fireteam Osiris has hopes in beating down Blue team, but that is not true for sure (also if Blue team has no armor and Osiris has). Anyway, I found out Chief has a new armor! Remember the end of Halo 2 and the start of Halo 3? After that crazy jump from the Dreadnought Chief’s armor in Halo 3 and 4 has some damage on the right side of the chest: Halo 3 - Halo 4. that damage disappears in Halo 5! And as you can see from these other 2 pics his undersuit is also different: Halo 4 - Halo 5. After noticing this you’ll surely understand that Chief and Blue team have the same technologically new armors that have Fireteam Osiris, so their “advantage” easily disappears :stuck_out_tongue:

And that is also why Chief can now make use of Spartan Abilities he couldn’t before!

edit: It is confirmed in the latest Canon Fodder (that I missed) that Blue team and Chief wear Gen 2 armors!

Chief’s armor mostly likely got repaired, rather then replaced really.

Osiris still has their techy advantage, hacking turrets and other neat stuff. The Armors always had the built in thruster abilties, it is pretty much canon but it’s only in Halo 5 they’re really making use of those thrusters. Nothing new about the MARK VI really, aside from the most likely software updates.

Chief’s armour was repaired in Escalation, though there are rumours that Blue Team’s Mark VI was refitted and updated with GEN II tech.

Damn, I forgot Halo Escalation XD
Well, I guess they made some software upgrades

edit: I missed the latest Canon Fodder, they actually wear Gen 2 armors!

Is it totally new GEN 2, or is it their old armour fitted with the Gen 2 tech?

The Mark VI was capable of accepting upgrades, as Cortana demonstrated.

Not a big difference though, but I guess they’re totally new since Chief has a new undersuit and some red triangles on his armor and also a red line on that portion of armor on his back

edit: maybe Blue team and Chief also kept the AI port?

I suspect that its designed to look like the Mark VI similar to how Naomi own Gen 2 armor looked like the Mark V armor.

But retaining the Mark VI name is weird, it might not be its full name. Because going from the screen shots the undersuit is also different and thats where the crystal layer thing is that gives the Spartans their extra physical boost.

Umh, I remember their physical boost is due to the genetical augmentations, was not the the crystal layer some sort of protective liquid? quote on Halo 3 first mission: “the layer of crystal should have absorbed the impact” (don’t know if this was the sentence, I translated it from the italian version: “Lo strato di gel dovrebbe aver assorbito l’ impatto”)

I just find it a bit weird for them to build for John a unique armour based on his iconic design instead of using one of the Mark VI GEN II models they already have, unless he’s just that iconic and that design is too tied to his image.

EDIT: I read the article and concluded that John’s Mark VI armour was simply updated to be compatible with Gen II.

As we saw in the live action trailers does exist a statue of Chief, so I think he really is that iconic

It can do that too, but it also amplifies the Spartans abilities.

The Mark V amplified the Spartans strength by a factor of 2 while the Mark VI by a factor of 5. Gen 2 is supposed to make the IV s comparable to an SII in Gen 1 armor so a SII in Gen 2 would be much stronger and much faster.

By how much unknown, but Franky IIRC compared the IVs to elite athletes and the SIIs to supernatural monsters.

I miss too many details XD I think I should read again “Halo the Fall of Reach”, did it a long time ago

Ok so apparently I am not the only asking if John received a whole new set of armour or did his firmware simply get updated while retaining its original shell.

> Ok so apparently I am not the only asking if John received a whole new set of armour or did his firmware simply get updated while retaining its original shell.

He probably got a new suit all together.

Repaired and updated would probably cost more then to simply get him new preexisting one.

If they were to repair they will need to replace alot of stuff, you don’t fall from orbit twice without damaging something in the case of the first one with the nasty gash in his right chest plate. Then they will have to rework the suit outter shelll to accommodate Gen 2 upgrades such as the booster, probably better shielding system more efficient reactor, better armor etc. The under suit replaced all together.

So in all, probably an entire new armor system based around the VI or a new preexisting VI that was already upgraded.

But probably better if it were clarified by 343i. I would be pretty upset if they used his old Mark VI, chief will start looking more and more like an anime character who only wears the same armor and when given the option for a brand new one decides to keep his old one still.

This is true in Chief’s case. But Kelly, Fred and Linda all have new armor sets. HERMES; CENTURION and ARGUS to be precise

As soon as I unlock lindas armor in matchmaking, I will not change it for the rest of my h5g time

Okay multiple sources seem to agree that John’s so-called GEN II armour is his old Mark VI suit upgraded to become GEN II.
