Is there a way on the site or somewhere else to check how far you are on certain commendations? Or is the only way to know when it pops up in game?
Go into your detailed Halo 4 stats using the top bar here.
Leave the first option set to Service Record, then click the button to bring in the panel from the far right and Commendations is there at the bottom under Achievements.
