Personally, I’m not too fond of the cover. I would much prefer a cover made with this:

I like it. It looks awesome, but I think it is just a place holder for now but this could be the final cover.

They are all placeholders, which I am glad for. That is the only press-released photo of John for Halo 4 so far. I think we could get a glimpse at some more officially released images at VGAs along with a trailer. I prefer the ship/shield world image as well. More artsy fartsy.

If the story really does focus on Forunner something awesome should be done, like the Didact standing back to back with Chief, or maybe Chakas and the Chief.

I don’t like Chiefs new armour, but there’s not much I can do about that. Also, I do not like the cover art. When I see it, it doesn’t seem like it’s the Master Chief. Hopefully, because Halo 4 doesn’t come out for a while, the cover art is just a place holder for now.
