Check out MLG!!!

Hey guys, Im here to ask you guys to try checking out Halo on the MLG Pro Circuit. You dont have to be the most competitive person or the best player to enjoy the top level competition that is being played. So if you havent ever heard of MLG, check out their website: Majorleaguegaming.com and watch some of the VOD from the last tournament

Why?

> Why?

Watch that video at least <3

Because its just so entertaining, and its one of the best things that has happened for Halo. It is the most Top Notch competition in Halo and its entertaining seeing the best players in the world. I mean just give it a chance, and I can guarantee that you will be entertained

Seconded. The tournament that just happened was absolutely mindblowing. The MLG community has not always had a good reputation, but this last event was like nothing else.
I watched the stream while posting in r/halo and it was incredible! It was honestly the best Halo gamplay I’ve ever seen, and the community has come on leaps and bounds in just a few months.

Someone should post the links to the highlights from Columbus to illustrate what we’re talking about!

Halo has been a huge part of MLG in the past and vice versa. The least you can do is check it out. As Halo and Bungie met thier crossroads, the future for Halo in MLG didn’t look too bright. But now that 343i is making more competitive maps in Halo 4, we can still have hope.

As OP said, you do not have to be the most competitive player, hell, you don’t even need to be good. Just check out the VOD from the event last weekends, you might like it

Guys, here is the link to the MLG Columbus 2012 VOD, go check it out

Why?
Because if you stop looking at it with that negative stigma, then you would see why it has such a passionate community.

Meh, I didn’t really see what was so impressive about it. Unless you’re counting on the score being 49 to 49 making it so impressive. But even I’ve had those games.

Its exciting to watch the best competition in the world for our game. You dont need to hate on us, but we just want to reach out to the casual community to come check out our events

It’s like any sport or e-sport. When you’re invested in the teams and the players it’s so much more tense because there’s reputation (and money) on the line. I’m sure you’ve felt that feeling in the 89th minute of a world cup game, and one team hits the crossbar.
MLG is like that when you get into it. It’s incredible.

> Meh, I didn’t really see what was so impressive about it. Unless you’re counting on the score being 49 to 49 making it so impressive. But even I’ve had those games.

But when you’ve had those games, were you playing against the top .01% of the Halo community?

This. This is what most of the casuals look at us with. People look at us negatively. If you keep an open mind everything can be good.

> It’s incredible.

why wouldnt you want to watch the top players play the game you love i dont understand

Have you had those close games while on the 5th game as a tiebreaker?

I feel game 11 of SQ vs Instinct would be much better. That game was much more intense.

I have to give Mudkip a shoutout for throwing this together.

I was playing in those games where everybody was on equal skill to one another or the level of skill was measured out between everyone.

and those players aren’t the best of the Halo community, they’re the best of the MLG community. Big difference.

Oh how you could cut the ignorance with a knife here.

Are they bad because they can’t play no-headshot AR SWAT?

> those players aren’t the best of the Halo community, they’re the best of the MLG community. Big difference.

The reason they aren’t the best in the Halo community is because the default settings promote non-competitive playstyles. Thats where 343i needs to step in. The playlist category is called “Competitive” for a reason, yet it is in the slightest bit competitive.

They’re still the best in regular settings.

Duh, name me one game that was perfectly balanced on release date. The different is that Halo doesn’t need an update or patch to fix its problems.

Even if I do find Reach to be a more team focused playstyle then previous Halos, we can still do with some option tweaking and new gametypes. Personally I’m looking for a gametype that emphasises good Loudout selection.
