Cheating - The state of Halo Infinite Ranked Matchmaking

Hackers and cheaters in online games don’t belong anywhere they are just more prevelant on PC due to how open a PC is to a console… they’ll have cheaters via console eventually. it’s a garunteed thing with games these days.

I’ve seen cheaters even on the Xbox 360 (albeit when Halo 3’s popularity was waning), and Halo 3 wasn’t even on PC at that point.
It might be more difficult for people to cheat on consoles, but it isn’t impossible.

Halo 5 never had a hacking problem. Never even seen one complaint. One thread or one post ANYWHERE for 5 years straight. On the launch of Halo 5 you never seen hacking posts like you do now on Halo infinites launch

I never played halo 5 as i hated 4. But i’m certain cheaters are present in 5 they may just be less prevelent and hiding it better.

a simple google search will prove my point.

You can still use the the old Console Companion app to easily find recent players (Since for some unknown, idiotic reason the Xbox App STILL doesn’t give us this functionality.)

Agreed - people could lock you to the initial loading of a match and unlock you at the end, you’d be 0-30 deaths - pretty sure hosts bridging connections was a massive issue as well, those are times I don’t miss.

Well then there’s your answer. I played at champoin level. The high 50s too. If anyone was to notice hackers it would be me. Trust me hacking wasn’t a thing in halo 5 ask anyone who played it and they will tell you they never read any posts or complaints about it

You can thank that sweet sweet Free 2 Play model combined with a lack of anticheat

It seems there are videos on YouTube about cheaters in Halo 5 that were posted less than a year after it released.
One of them was even during a tournament, where you could see the other team purposefully going inside of the map (not just accidentally falling through it).

Yeah it has always been a thing - as long as that console has USB ports it’s going to happen haha

In Halo 3, I ran into people who were shooting through walls to spawn kill my team.
We couldn’t move more than a foot before we died, so we ended up just quitting.

People manipulating their connections was more common though.

I remember that. That’s not hacking. That’s just plain ol cheating by glitching outside the map. I remember that and he got disqualified. Nothing like that happened again.

I’m talking about hacking. You know. Wall hacks. Aim bot. That’s type of stuff. You never heard of those things in halo 5

I guess that’s true.
Still, there was cheating in Halo 5, despite it in not being on PC, even if it wasn’t through hacking.

Actually - there’s a whole site dedicated to bots for Halo 5 multiplayer, and the subreddit has no shortage of threads and evidence of it as well

Your still not talking about wall hacks and aim bots and the such. Those bots barely made a dent.

There’s a difference?
I’m not sure what RDA is talking about, but if they’re not for aiming, what are the bots doing?

Having a bot play for you and using aim bot yourself are two different things.

A bot isn’t always ganna know what to do vs a player that knows the game. That’s why they never made it anywhere and that’s why people don’t know about them like that because they weren’t a threat

They can get a bot to play for them?
That’s very strange.

Anyway, it depends on the bot, I suppose.
The Spartan bots in Infinite are really good at aiming.

What I don’t get: why aren’t the banning the MAC adress? If you caught cheatting, why is there no way to ban the steam account from further online playing? 343 bans people for a crashing gamebut it seems they don’t care about cheaters…

Lookup HWID spoofing. In computer security history it’s one of the oldest methods to bypass bans and controls in place. This would be one example of how to ban someone that’s very easy to get around. However, consider in some countries it’s illegal for privacy and other consumer reasons to block MACs (I think in some EU countries).
