Cheaters out of hand

Reporting through xbox actually does nothing unless it’s reporting for being harassed over mic or messages. It won’t do anything to a cheater.

Its pretty straight forward though man. Click the link. Select report player, select game, enter players names, enter description of cheating if you want, upload small clip. Literally could be a few seconds…or depending on what you’re reporting can even be a single image. Boom. Done. You get an email shortly after that let’s you know they received it, then one that let’s you know what’s going on. If anything is filled out wrong or you’re reporting to the wrong category an agent emails you back to let you know.

I’ve done this myself and have had success getting players removed. It’s not this Half hour process at all. Like it’s less than even 5 minutes. Could it be easier or something? Sure. Let’s not kid ourselves though. If we have enough time to discuss cheaters among ourselves…partake in a back and forth between users about our woes…even make a YouTube video to show it…we definitely have more than enough time to do those small steps.

Anyone who tries to use xbox as a means to report people for cheating though definitely does nothing. That’s why we have the support function for us here. Like I get it. Something more automatic would be nice…but it won’t be accurate. Us going into theater and really honing in on the exact moments of super obvious cheating and making a small few second clip is better. Thinking we can hit report and expect agents to view 10 minutes etc of player content to try and sift through the tons of reports to find the moments of cheating though?..might be too much to the point where many would probably even get ignored at times. A small few seconds of an extremely obvious cheater is way more feasible than sitting through the start of the match waiting to get to a certain point you experienced in the match multiplied across X amount of user reports. It’s humans we’re dealing with. Not an automatic analyzer that will detect cheating.

I usually report and block via Xbox profile but I know it’s pointless and meaningless, however tonight was the first time I’ve made an effort to report a player with video evidence on Halo Waypoint. I’ve had to create 2 tickets as the attachment size is restricted to 49MB…how are we supposed to upload video sizes that small with conclusive evidence that a player is cheating?! Even the official report system is lame.

Actually it really isn’t. If it really is someone who is cheating or doing what you reported, they will respond back to you saying so. If not, then nothing. If you just send in reports just to send in reports the system will know that you just may be crying wolf when there isn’t one.

You mean on XBL or Waypoint? I’ve received ticket confirmations for the reports submitted via Waypoint but in all my years of playing on XBL I’ve never once had a communication from them responding to any kind of report I’ve submitted.

Hopefully something will come of the Waypoint reports but all they can do is ban the account and the cheat will just create a new one.

I play on PC, and well while I don agree that shutting PC players off from the Xbox players is a solution. For now it needs to be done.

Sure it means I will go from running into hackers one out of 20 games to running into them 1 out of 10, but I would rather them use the stop gap for now until a propper anti cheat is added.

The big problem though is the name spoofing. I ran into a game where the enemy team had 2 of the same “player” one was obviously a hacker the other just a random player who a hacker was spoofing.

XBL. Waypoint does too, but its via email. XBL is through the messaging system.

REDACTED is a profile i just witnessed cheating, he is a brand new player he only has 25 games, he got a killamanjaro in swat on behemoth, was swinging around prefireing before he could even see enemys and was tracking their movements through solid objects I cant see any wall hacking system on theater im not sure id even be able to see it, but he was clearly cheating he got 36 kils while everyone else only got 6 only reason I stayed in the match was to get a full view in theater mode
tracked enemies through solid objects and prefired before they would pop out of cover ,i prefire my corners too but this, this was very clearly he can see the exact moment they were moving out of cover
with no one around but him
i saw his match history and he always had the exact same teamate every game his gt is : REDACTED so im not sure if he was spoofing one of the accounts but its very suspicious

Going to be a broken record on every one of these posts.
CSGO prime system + player reputation system +
X amount of time played to play ranked + report button + anti cheat.

There are games to learn from, its not perfect but it filters most out.

Ight hang on. I got you

@Rampage116, are you sure that wasn’t a bug from watching theater mode? It is well known that the ammo displayed in theater mode isn’t always accurately shown. There is a known bug where when a sniper rifle shot is observed in theater mode, it shows it as depleting ‘two ammo’ per shot instead of one. There are many clips I’ve gone back and watched where I’ve seen a sniper rifle fire at 0 ammo, but it was a bug with theater mode itself. The weapon’s mag would go from 4 sniper ammo, to 2, then 0 while firing on the third shot, when it really should have showed it going 4, 3, 2 instead.

I don’t know personally how 343 handles reports, but if it’s anything like how other support structures work it does have repercussions.

Most players assume reports only ban the suspected player, but in many cases a profile is assembled from that player and many others to develop an algorithm for detecting known exploits and act as a safety net, the result? Anti-cheat.

Again I have no idea how 343’s support system actually works, but I’m also not going to sit idly by and let someone who is overtly cheating (of which I’ve only come across 2 suspects) get away with what they’re doing regardless.

That was obviously a cheater, not even pro players have almost 3000 csr

Definitely a cheater, but rank number/rank in general is not directly indicative of cheating.

Thanks. Wouldn’t have found that one from a simple google search. Looks like he’s done it in at least two different matches, maybe three. The name isn’t super unique so I’ve got to do some legwork on my end before I can act, but I’m sure 343i has all the evidence they need to ban the player doing this.

Edit: As it turns out there’s a bigger problem. It’s possible to spoof Xbox Live IDs. I thought this was fixed before Halo: Infinite released since it happened with MCC for a month. 343i’s new anti-cheat can’t come soon enough.

He needs to be stopped

Well guys I’ll be taking a long break from infinite. 1128 games and 360 hours in and there is not a single part of this game that needs an update, it’s hard not to notice. It was fun reading all of you and how we all agree on most problems in this game, including the cheaters. I did have fun, good luck guys, see you in 2 months or something I guess

Summary

Speaking of poor management. We need to get a petition going to fire Bonnie Ross. And to be replaced with Joseph. At least he comes from the old-school mentality of the players first and 30 seconds of fun that we all grew up with in the old halos.
