Cheaters out of hand

I’d have happily paid £80-100 for an all singing and dancing Halo given the state of the FPS genre. Instead I have paid £0 for a broken incomplete game and won’t be spending a penny until things change for the better. 343i and Microsoft have made some piss poor decisions in releasing this game and people should be paying with their jobs for pure incompetence.

I ran into 2 blatant ones yesterday, and a few more that were sus. But who knows for the sus people at this point because of how bad stuff like server desync is. It could just be looking sus, but not remotely related to cheating.

What made them “not so obvious”? What were they doing?

It’s not difficult or uncommon to rack up ridiculous streaks or kill counts in swat, especially on PC. I even made a post about “having my first hacker match” where I did something similar in it, and no doubt got called a hacker by at least one person on the other team.

It sounds to me like the 25 kill streak is what made this player sus, what else was this player doing that gave them away?

is their GT on the leaderboards on infinite stat tracker?

The game’s lack of a real anti cheat is such a joke. Why didn’t they implement’s MCC’s anti cheat? They removed the red reticle from the game as if that would help and yet it’s still full of cheaters with aim bots. And then legit players have to suffer, I can’t wrap my brain around the lack of a red reticle, it just makes the game feel so off to me.

The cheater who had almost 3k csr is now banned and gone. OFF the leaderboards. Thanks to everyone reporting. Keep utilizing what we have, and voice for something better if it’s possible. We have our answer. It works…but it takes people to actually report instead of just talking about how much it sucks.

Here’s the thing, there’s no issue in personally coming across a suspected hacker and reporting that suspected hacker using evidence you’ve seen. There’s also no issue in spectating some of the encountered suspected hacker’s videos and using those as evidence against the player.

There is a problem however organizing a mass report “mob” against a player who’s suspected of hacking that you’ve never come across. If that isn’t a witch hunt, it’s damn close to being one and encouraging more.

It’s why name posting is frowned upon, because naming and shaming can easily be abused and lead to unprovoked, unverifiable, vigilante style mob takedowns of players that may not be cheating at all. This was an issue in Overwatch, with players getting mass report banned for no reason other than that’s what the mob wanted.

You’re not seriously suggesting that player that got banned wasn’t cheating right? You’re not seriously suggesting that , that player wasn’t getting reported from cheating by players who played in the same lobbies right?

Not sure what you’re trying to accomplish here bro. Nobody gets banned WITHOUT suffice evidence. It ISN’T an automated system. If it were, you got a clear point. It isn’t though.

No need to be facetious, you know damn well I wasn’t.

From the way you phrased it, it really read like it was relying on players here reading the individual’s name and reporting them themselves.

It’s entirely possible I misinterpreted the context.

It kinda sounded like it was the influx of reporting, not necessarily the context of it that got them banned.

Listen you understand where I’m coming from at least with my side of things. So let’s just leave this as a misunderstanding on my part.

That’s fine bro. Look man, no intention of insult on my part…but I’ve been in a thread where people are advocating NOT to report dude. That it’s a waste of time…that nothing happens. It’s so untrue bro. It really annoys me so much that there’s people that rather make a thread saying omg I’m tired of cheaters without EVER submitting a reported submitted ticket.

My intention with my reply is that it works. Use what we have available to us when we need it. Don’t just groan about it…oh well…onto the next one. It’s not me saying hey guys, let’s all report 1 player, whoever we think is cheating. Nah man.

I read your replies all over threads. You give great arguments for what it is you feel needs to be clarified to people. When I read yours to mine though I’m like what the heck? What’s the intention here? To not report people we find that are cheating in our matches?

A misunderstanding. Sorry if I word things weird. I also caps lock because I’m to lazy to figure out how to bold them from my phone.

We’re good dude lol, no worries.

My misunderstanding was what led us here, I have no problem admitting when I’m wrong.

No hard feelings man

hahaha you tell me, maybe getting a 25 kill streak in 2 minutes? lol

I know a hacker when I see one, but this was just obvious without theater. There are people who try to dissimulate their hacks, you know, to not get caught. I’m Onyx on ranked, not that high but I’m not that bad at halo, sometimes

I get that you try to see the other side of the coin, though

I dunno why you chose to lead with the fact the player got a 25 kill streak when you could’ve opted for “locking on to heads” and “tracking players through walls” instead :joy:

My guy my main argument was that kills alone don’t prove anyone’s a hacker, but clocking domes and skipping whole freaking frames between targets certainly does :joy:

I sure hope you reported that guy, that’s blatant.

Lol I know, forgot to mention the see through walls, automatic aim snapping, and all that.

No, I did not report them, that’s one of my main problems with the hacker problem, that there IS an option to report them in-game, but it takes you to a form on their website, have to upload stuff, write a report, upload a video, I’m surprised they did not ask for my marital status.

I did capture this video and upload it just to prove my point, hackers are live, and I bet this game counted towards my quit ban counter.

My point is that this should be easy to do, the report should automatically include the game clip (Since it is on their servers already, they should be able to replay it), the gamertag, everything. The current system is just bad, not only for the end user, but for server disk space, anyway, my point here is that we should have better tools for this.

Happy new year BTW lol

Oh I’m totally with you that the current system to report is entirely convoluted. I think it serves a purpose if players want to take that route, but an in game report function would be so much easier.

I would highly suggest reporting using the system regardless. I would offer some assistance, but it’s your video and your experience so it would be irrelevant if I tried, and personally it would also be against my principles to take others’ matters into my own hands on my own. But ultimately it’s your call.

Happy New Year to you to!

Hey, I replied to you in another thread but do you have any proof of this you could send me? I know the guy and have some respect for him and his modding work. He’s hosted many fun custom games. If he’s actually cheating in matchmaking I want to encourage him to stop.

Just one reply will do. I check my notifications. I tried to message you privately but I guess this forum doesn’t support that??

Edit: Found what I needed.

It would be ideal to have a function in game where you select report and it automatically clips the last 15 seconds or what you just experienced and begins uploading it while you fill out anything else needed. Doesn’t exist though, and not doing anything about it at all just…idk imo is such a waste.

Literally a couple of minutes tops. Its not that difficult. It works. We will never live in an ideal world where no one hacks and there’s the most magical autoban anti hack/cheat in existence. People will always cheat and the best thing we can do is use the tools we have. It’s a much better option than just letting it go. It takes more effort to make a thread and continuously keep talking about it than it is to take a few minutes to send a small clip and submit a report. Like I see it as…might as well since we’re already talking about it and Literally creating content about it in some cases.

We do need a better system. Though we can at least still help clean multiplayer up when we come across cheaters.

I remember Reach on the xbox 360 had an option to quickly report someone. Don’t quite remember what the flow was but I could easily do it during the game or after in the post game report. Recent players in infinite do not show the most recent players and players are ordered alphabetically instead of chronologically. I could go on and on, I did report them via the xbox game bar, which is easier than the form you have to fill out in halowaypoint. Even muting someone is now hidden in the pause menu

There’s literally no point in reporting people. Even if they handed out bans in a timely manner, the game is F2P. There are absolutely no repercussions. They will just make a new account and do it all over again.

So report people if it makes you feel good I guess. Other than that it’s a waste of time. And frankly, we shouldn’t have to do their job for them.
