if somebody get out of the maps (without bug) and shots from there is legal or no?
Well I mean it’s not illegal lol he ain’t braking a law. So I guess it’s “legal” and cheating since he is exploiting the map. And if he got out of the map that is still a bug/glitch. A bug doesn’t have to be a server issue
Depends on what situation your in, if it’s online matchmaking in competitive map, you should probably report the issue naming the map and where the cheater was outside the map.
If it was a casual game mode on a forged map (lets say prop hunt, our Ground Pound Arena) then it isn’t serious at all. If it’s really bugging you, you could message the map creator about it providing the same details as above.
TL;DR
Both ways it’s cheating but handling the situation depends on what is happening.
Using exploits to get out of the map is cheating, yes. Even if 343i are aware, that’s no excuse to use them and ignorance isn’t an excuse

The use of map exploits/glitching out of the map should be considered cheating IMO. Sometimes it takes a while for these things to be found and patched.
A team did it in the HCS and was disqualified because of it.

That video by HLG was hilarious!
Getting out of the map is certainly “cheating”, though it isn’t illegal and you can’t get banned unless you’re reported.

Isn’t that the equivalent of saying, “Sure robbery is bad, but you can’t go to jail unless you get caught?”

Eh, perhaps. Though robbery is illegal, and exploiting the map isn’t illegal. And you probably have to exploit the map quite a lot to get enough reports to be banned, while getting reported only once gets you in jail. I was trying to just state the facts, I don’t condone cheating in Halo.
It is in a way cheating, so I say illegal in terms of rules.
It is cheating IMO…

Illegal is just a specific term for things that violate laws, which are societal rules deemed important enough for punishment…from the perspective of the game it’s relatively the same thing. Getting out of the map clearly violates the games rules and you can be punished for it. The method of getting caught may differ, but in principle they are the same.

Depends where you are from I think some countries have laws against cheating in video games.
Thing is though how come there is that channel on YouTube that constantly finds ways to get out of the maps. Why hasn’t any one been permanently banned for it? These guys are good enough to not need to cheat but it doesn’t change the fact they are cheating. I think it’s a pretty popular halo YouTube channel but I won’t mention any names.

It really shouldn’t. In video games it’s extremely easy to decide what is and what isn’t cheating because everything the player can do is completely determined by the rules, i.e., the mechanics of the game. This way there can be no subjective interpretation of the rules. The rules can have undesirable loopholes, but there’s no use labeling taking advantage of loopholes in the rules “cheating”, and doing that can even be detrimental.
Labeling the use of loopholes cheating is pointless, because it implies that the blame is on the player. However, when the creator of the game is completely in charge of what players are and aren’t capable of doing in the game, there is no reason to blame the player for doing something that the game allows them to do, regardless of whether the creator intended it or not. The player’s goal is to win at the game under the rules set by the creator (not by other players). If the player can do something, they should not need to care what other players think of it. (And by extension, other players shouldn’t think negatively of it.)
Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the attitude that abusing any loophole in the rules of the game is “cheating” can be extremely detrimental to further development of the game. Sometimes it happens that unintended loopholes turn out to be beneficial to the game. An example of this is famously the strafe jumping in Quake, where a shortcut taken in programming the game’s physics allowed players to gather extra speed by executing a sequence of jumps and strafes over and over again. However, this was a fairly demanding tactic and its benefit to the game was recognized and it was never fixed, and since then the mechanic has become a staple and an integral part of the series. More generally, speedrunning communities in most games tend to recognize the benefit of glitches to their common pursuit, and use them to their fullest, which has given us some very amazing speedruns that would never have come to existence had all players adopted the blanket mindset that using glitches is cheating.
Lumping all glitches, bugs, loopholes—whatever you want to call them—in the same category of “cheating” is a very narrowminded line of thought, and highly detrimental to the development of games as a medium. Glitches can be features, and their impact on the game should be judged on a per-glitch basis. Of course it turns out that a large majority of glitches are detrimental, but those should then be fixed. However, as long as these glitches exist, condemning their use is an attitude that’s detrimental to the gaming community in general.
It goes without saying that in this case it’s probably not a good thing that players can get out of maps, and that therefore these glitches should be fixed. However, we gain nothing from labeling the players who make use of these glitches “cheaters”.

I wasn’t referring to all bugs/glitches (we’re referring to matchmaking, not speed runs; campaign; etc where these things tend to be more fun than game breaking) . Someone who explicitly and knowingly breaks or glitches out of the map in order to gain an unreasonable advantage is cheating imo. Players should play with some degree of ethical standard. I don’t become another person just because i start playing Halo, my sense of ethics and fair play stays with me and therefore I don’t do things that give me an unfair advantage. While somethings that we’re likely glitches have become part of the way we play the game (BXR comes to mind), it’s fairly obvious that the developer never intended for players to get out of the defined map boundaries in a multiplayer map. How would you view someone who glitches out of the map to a point where they are nearly (if not out right) immune from attack? By definition for me it would have to fall under the definition of cheating, in that you are abusing the system to provide yourself with an unfair advantage. If i gain a one kill advantage and the glitch in to the map to the point where I can no longer lose is that not cheating? I also wouldn’t particularly feel comfortable with the idea that a barrier or texture that wasn’t properly coded should be viewed as a ‘loophole.’ It seems an obvious case where something that shouldn’t be possible is.

Weren’t they just mucking around though, wasn’t it on coliseum?
Just do it, it a game and who cares, especially if you in warzone or social. Would be funny
It’s not cheating, more like gaining an unfair advantage, which is entirely different because H5 arena is all about unfair advantages. That being said it’s certainly something I look down on in matchmaking as it shows that the person or team doing it doesn’t have enough skill or confidence in themselves to win a fair fight. In customs I intentionally design maps where you can easily breakout, in case you just wanna explore the map and have a look around.
Cheating, I guess technically but the invisible ceilings are way too low in this game and there’s a boring lack of insane hiding places.
It’s obviously not illegal, and nobody is going to he prosecuted for it. Imagine that though lol.

Yah it was on Coliseum. They got ahead of the other team and then broke out so they wouldn’t lose.
