MCC Chat window issue

Hello all,
Recently I bought a new Xbox controller to play MCC on steam, and I’ve encountered a new (at least to me) issue. When I crouch (left thumbstick) it brings up the in game chat menu. While the menu is up, my next input on the controller is basically worthless, because it thinks in trying to scroll through the chat box. Has anyone else has this problem?
I’ve tried looking in settings to disable stuff, no help there.
I’ve also tried not crouching, but that’s a really hard habit to break.

The known issues list on the Support site has this: ‘Issues activating text chat can be caused by action mapping from the previous input.ini carrying over between updates. Deleting OpenTextChat_Keyboard from the input.ini may fix this issue.’

This happens to me all the time, effectively stopping you in your tracks in a matchmaking game and forcing you to either sit through the game with mutiliated controls, or quit right then and there to go fix it.

Here is how it happens every single time I play.

Play for an hour or two, everything is perfectly fine. At any given point past this, the screen might go black for a second, then reappear again. As soon as I see this happen, I now know the bug is in play. As soon as I press crouch after this, the game acts as if I am within a menu pressing crouch to open the chat, even though I am in a match.

Toxic Ice, this is exactly my same situation. I didn’t even think about the screen going black for a second… I thought it was my pc buggin…. But that’s exactly when the bug reappears. Gonna try looking for the input.ini that legendary suggested

Where would I find this input.ini ?

webbsurfer808 I’m not sure. I’d suggest opening File Explorer and searching for input.ini and see if any results include ‘MCC’ in the file path. If so, double click that one to open it.

Hi there,

I had this exact bug - following these steps fixed it.

I searched for “input.ini” and found a text file in my MCC folder. Inside it was a think that said blahblahblahOpenTextChat_KeyboardBinding=LeftThumbstick, I deleted that, saved the file. And it fixed the bug (y)
