Charging for Champions Bundle is last insult

I created this account specifically to express my extreme disappointment with the way 343 industries has, in my opinion, taken its customers for granted and marched in step to the tune of Microsoft’s greedy financial business models. I have not played Halo 4 for several months now and have been eagerly awaiting the release of the new Champions Bundle since its announcement hoping that it would pump some new life into my favorite franchise of all time. I was let down in the most extreme way when I realized yesterday that this DLC was NOT included in the Season Pass. From the perspective of the consumer this is an insult!

Let me state my case:
To date I have spent $200.00 USD on the Legendary edition (which didn’t even include a Season Pass!), $50.00 USD on the Season Pass, and $60.00 USD to pay for the online capabilities of the game. That’s a minimum of $310.00 USD just for the ability to access all the menus at the title screen, $310.00 just to play the all of the features of Halo 4 that would normally be included with any other game $50 game. Over $300+ given to your company, 343 industries, and you are still attempting to charge me more money rather than include that anywhere in the $310.00 pricetag I’ve already paid. Inexcusable! This is an outright affront and insult to the player community. For me it will be the final insult, as I have already sold my Xbox 360 this morning to a co-worker with Halo 4 still in the disk tray. Done.

I realize that it is probably standard procedure for any negative posts like this to be deleted immediately, locked or otherwise censored. However, there are no options for contacting 343 directly and so I will take the opportunity to state my opinion here since you afford your players no other chance to do so.

Sincerely,
EX-Spartan BitSaul

I never knew it wasn’t included in the Season Pass. I wonder why they did that?

far as i know it never really was a season pass. they specified that it would encompass the three map packs they had planned, and that’s what it did.

I think ‘farewell’ threads do tend to get locked actually but I just wanted to point out that the Limited (not Legendary) edition did include the War Games Map Pass - it was part of the ‘Infinity Actual Kit’ code you got with it. If you then purchased a Map Pass separately then you wasted your money I’m afraid.

  1. There was no Halo 4 Legendary edition, there was however a Limited Edition but it was nowhere near $200.

  2. The War Games Map Pass was only $25 if memory serves. It was not a “season pass”, it was advertised from the start to contain THREE map packs, all of whom have been released. If you bought the Limited Edition, you would have had the map pack pass included in your purchase.

  3. You are not required to buy this DLC, it is what we like to call optional. If you want additional toppings on your pizza, you pay for them. It is no different in video gaming.

I have spent more than double your overinflated estimate on this game and I’m more than happy to pay for additional content. Just because you feel cheated because you were misinformed it doesn’t mean 343i has wronged you somehow.

As soon as I saw Legendary edition I was like

Um… It’s your fault for not knowing what you were buying.
First off, there is no Legendary edition. Only regular, limited, and console edition. So fail on that part.
Secondly, the console and limited edition came with the map pass. If you didn’t have the unlock code in there then you should have said something a LONG time ago instead of just bringing it up now.
Thirdly, it very clearly states in the Map Pass that you would be getting 3 packs. Not 4.
And lastly, I hardly think counting in Xbox Live Gold is fair seeing as you use it for a Lot more than just Halo 4 multiplayer.

There’s no Legendary Edition. Only Limited ($100) and the console ($350). If you bought the Limited Edition, you would’ve gotten the Map Pass. Even if you didn’t, it only costs $25. That’s a minimum of $120 to just play the game (including a year of XBL). If you want all the DLC, it would only be another $25 for the Map Pass and the Champions Bundle. That’s $155 minimum for the XBL Gold, Halo 4, and the DLC. I don’t know where you came up with those numbers, but they’re obviously wrong.

Excuse me for a second. I need to go smash my head against a wall.

I mean, I’m no fan of Halo 4 or 343i, but if you’re gonna bash them, at least have some sensible logic behind it. Otherwise you make the actual critics and haters of this game look bad. You know… the ones with legitimate reasons. Not the ones that buy every single damn thing from the developer without waiting for the slightest inkling of criticism or review from other players or reviewers.

Actually the console didn’t come supplied with the Map Pass, only the LE game did. The console came only with the Fotus armour and other Fotus associated DLC.

Hey, where’d you get my picture from?

Dude, if you seriously paid those prices, then you got majorly ripped off by wherever you bought all that. Everybody else here has explained the other points I was going to make so no point in repeating them.

Your “Legendary Edition” is the Limited Edition Halo 4 Console, correct? Let me help you.

There was no Season Pass. But I’m assuming you are talking about the War Games Map Pass. Buying the Map Pass gave you a slight discount, and came with a price tag of 2000 Microsoft Points, equivalent to about $25. That’s $25 less than what you just said was $50.

The Map Pass was 2000 MSP, which is $25, actually.

Thanks. I knew that, but I just put 35 for some reason. :stuck_out_tongue:

I own the Limited Edition.

First and foremost, the Limited Edition cost $100 not $200.
Second of all, it DID include the season pass so you ripped yourself off by buying it separately which btw cost $25 not $50.
Thirdly, the season pass specifically states you’re entitled to the first 3 map packs.
Lastly, please pull your lip over your head and swallow yourself.
Thanks.

First off, you have been ripped off if you brought your “LIMITED” edition of halo 4 for $200 and spent more on the war games pass because it didn’t come with one apparently, so that is your fault, no one else’s

And two, you misread information like a load of other idiots who don’t read the labels or small print the “WAR GAMES MAP PASS” not season pass, allows the user to download the “FIRST THREE”, yes, “THE FIRST THREE” pieces of DLC for halo 4. Which were “CRIMSON, MAJESTIC AND CASTLE”.

And by the way, selling your xbox 360 because of this one matter is completely ridiculous as well, learn to read the small print in future

P.s you won’t be missed, goodbye

He must have just bought all this recently off ebay. Would explain how he got ripped off. An unopened Halo 4 Limited Edition Xbox 360 Console goes for over $500, where as it was $350 when it was still in stores.

Hi OP,

As many other members have answered your expense figures are a bit off, also please ensure you read what is included in your future purchases. Everything was defined very clearly. I too purchased the limited edition and received the pass for the first 3 DLC. I have also purchased the Championship Bundle DLC and I’m very happy with my personal value for money.

As you mention in your OP these types of non-constructive threads are not allowed and we lock them. This thread has been locked for this reason. I hope you continue to enjoy Halo mate.

Is this even THAT big of a deal?

I mean, the Champions Bundle was only $10, and you didn’t even have to buy the full thing if you didn’t want to.

Why are people making such a big fuss over this?
