787 Avaricious Star:
Born from the mind of the Forerunner, the Historian, Avaricious Star has been the Monitor of the Installation 13; Omega Halo, a Halo ring kept secret even by many of the Forerunners, with the power to destroy everything within its firing radius: from sentient creatures, technology, even planets. It was built as last resort weapon to ensure any host or device that could be used by the Flood would eradicated in such an incident. The Historian himself built it and controlled it himself, believing he was the only one wise enough to determine what entire civilizations were and were not to be destroyed. In the end he personally requested that his knowledge and conscience be transferred into a Monitor to prevent any of his knowledge from falling into the hands of the Flood. The Historian ended being executed for using the Omega Halo radically, but the Didact, also seeing the uses it could potentially provide in case of a dangerous situation, decided to keep it hidden until further notice; placing it beyond the rim of the Milky Way, out of range of any near by systems, like the Ark.
