I seem to make high platinum without much trouble, but when I start running into diamond and onyx players a line is crossed. It’s like I don’t know how to play anymore. I try to stay with teammates, time power ups, and have learned some of the jumps to traverse the map faster. I go negative by four or five and that’s to much when the games are so close. Any YouTube video recommendations I can watch so I can break into at least diamond. My shot is good and I know the maps pretty well. There is something I am missing though. I can hang with diamond players and quit often out score them. But never a team of them.

Movement - Be unpredictable. There are a lot of advanced movement tutorials out there that are map specific. They are great for learning the intricacies of each map, including skill jumps, positioning and angles.

Stay alive.

Deal Damage

Help out your teammates.

Watch and Learn!
When you paly against a really good player, go into theatre after the match and watch it from their POV. This can help speed up the learning process as you get to see how the game is played at a skill level higher than your own.
Hope this helps!

Diamond players are unique in that they thrive under high-pressure situations.
The biggest problem that MANY players have, is having too high of a sensitivity. I reccomend setting your aiming to 2 or 3, with maximum acceleration. Hopefully this helps.
I have unfortunately not studied this matter. However, the most likely scenario is that players at the Diamond tier are more experienced with FPS games and the game itself in general compared to the players at a lower rank.
Another aspect to consider is that we consider a competitive skilled based ranking system which is used for comparing between different skill levels. If you wish to obtain a higher rank, the simple solution is that you need to be better compared to the population in general.
Which controller layout do you use? You shouldn’t be using default, and if you are you should switch to either helljumper or bumperjumper. These are the most favored layouts by higher skilled players because they allow you to jump and crouch without messing up your aim. This in turn lets you strafe which is very necessary for firefights and spring jump which allows you to very easily reach higher ledges.
I would recommend you go into custom games and practice using power weapons that you can find on slayer matches. The sniper is easily the best power weapon you can find, and is the most important one to master because it is found on nearly all maps. A good goal to have would be to always get at least 3 kills out of the 4-shot magazine and to be able to reliably hit close-range snapshots.
I would also recommend you go on youtube and watch shyway’s full map analysis for each map. Basically, they go through every single hiding spot, sightline, or trick jump present. He also has several videos dedicated to advanced movement, and several others to break down high-level tactics used by pros. He is a very good creator to watch when looking to improve your game.
My last suggestion is to play a lot of swat. it is very good for training your accuracy and map movement.
The biggest difference between a diamond player and a plat is awareness. You don’t necessarily have to be good, but having the knowledge to press advantages or know when to back down goes a long way.
