I posted a comment in one of the "Halsey returns/Jun is dead/no he’s not/YES HE IS/NOOOO HEEES NOT!!! threads - so I think it may have been missed or passed over prematurely (my mistake for posting a question in the middle of a flame war!)
So I’ll repose it here…
If Halsey does actually make an appearance in H4 would that mark the first confirmed character that didn’t originate within Halo CE, H2, or H3(ie. characters from the books, or any of the subsequent games after H3’s release)to be introduced into the main story arc (ie. the new reclaimer trilogy story arc - H4, H5, and H6?
I believe Halsey was first introduced in the “The Fall of Reach” book (please correct me if I’m wrong)
If this is confirmed as the first time, it seems to me that this is a significant step forward in terms of the franchise making good on it’s commitment to attempt to tie up some of the lose ends in the canon-based stories…
Well, Halsey did appear in Reach, so technically that was the first game. But you are correct in saying that this is the first appearance of a book character in the actual main trilogy, hopefully there will be more.

I think so too, Johnson was a great character and needs to be “replaced”, Mendez sure is close enough, especially if you judge from the voice in Reach.
I’d personally be glad to see old friends and foes from the books return, would be nice if the Halo games once again tied closer to the fiction of the books, instead of breaking it.
