chapter 41 of primordium.

“it was long ago decided the forerunners would never bear the manntle” The captive
“decided how?” The didact
“through long study. the decision is final. tthe humans will replace you.” the captive

“but most humans are immune” the didact
“can the flood choose to infect of not to infect?” the captive

“humans will rise. weather they will also fail has not been decided” the captive
“how can you control any of this? your stuck her-the last of your kind!” the didact
“the last of this kind” the captive.

“we are the flood, there is no difference. until all space and time are rolled up and life is crushed in its folds…no end to grief or pain. in a hundred and one tousand centuries…unity again, and wisdom. until then-sweetness.” (what i think he ment by this is that he is the gravemind and the grivemind and the flood are the same. and also that he is a type of precouser… “the last of this kind” … and later all things will be flood and there will be unity (flood) and wisdom (gravemind)… maybe the timeless one (captive) is a precourser servent (gravemind) and he was sent by the precoursers to do some task… so the flood is made by the precoursers! maybe…

“it is your task to kill this servent” “that another may be freed” the captive
(my point exactly SERVENT! so another could be freed…? another one? hmm
then he kills him… so yeah

If humanity is chosen then why does the flood infect them in Halo CE -> 3 ?
As far as I know genetic mutation to the neural cortex stops the flood from being able to infect the host. As spartans I and II (Not sure about 3 tough) had some form of mutation they were no longer potential hosts.

Ironically this actually says that a Mutated being cannot be Mutated again.
Then again how come the Forerunners didn’t have this Immunity even though they undergo several mutations, maybe it’s because they are mutated not on the neural front.

Another idea might be that it is indeed genetic since only some can Become Spartan IIs the genes required might be the same that resist the flood.

Also the TO (or Primordial) could have lied…

Right now, until we know more about the Captive or Precursor story, we can’t 100% believe in everything he says. It’s probably right, but we just can’t be sure.
