Changing the battlepass for the better

Millionth thread on this topic but whatever.

The battlepass needs to be redone plain and simple. Why they went with an admittedly bad system is beyond me. If feel there would be a lot less gripping if an MCC style was implemented. They could

-still charge for it
-keep challenges and swaps
BUT
-xp is awarded for match completion as well as performance (like MCC)
-current challenge set up exists with swaps as well as the weekly and just adds onto your end of match xp

This solves a lot of issues where challenges are now optional satisfying the players, like me, who find it annoying to spend the whole game waiting for a hog to spawn or hopping you draw a game mode in the current roulette system.

Like MCC they should also add a challenge tracker in the pause menu. It would be nice to know if I finished a challenge mid game and can move on to something else. Without wasting my time.

In MCC you stop getting season points for levelling up early on so the only way to get them is by doing challenges.

In the current format I’m pretty sure progression is actually slower in MCC than Infinite (in terms of battle pass).

Uh unless they’ve changed the pass in the last few months that’s not how it works at all.

And yeah it is quicker to level up 1k xp vs MCCs when you’re at a higher tier but the time it takes to do these challenges is killer. You can play for hours and not have total control or oddball pop up.

I’m pretty sure you only get 12 season points a week. 6 for PvE and 6 for PvP although it could be less. I’m fairly confident in 12.

So you can only progress the battles pass 12 points per week. Bear in mind some things are more than 1 point so you aren’t even moving up 12 tiers a lot of the time.

You also get 1 point per level for 100 levels which goes by extremely fast if you do challenges because of the huge exp gains.

i’d say, personaly… REMOVE HALF OF THE CHALLENGE SWAPS
seriously… 40/100 of the pass slots are lazy challenges swaps… almost HALF OF THE PASS is nonsense swaps… really 343?

That’s not what you said though you stop getting points from leveling up early on. Which is not true obviously. And if you manage to maximize your challenges, which is more convenient than infinite you can shoot up levels quickly especially with the seasonal challenge.

Yeah I hate it as much as anyone but it could be a lot worse and if they keep challenges around its not a terrible idea.

Tier 100 is 10m exp.

Two challenges give out like 500k exp each. Rest are 100k+. Haven’t done the math but I’m sure you get 2-3m a week from them alone. So you max out the free season points in like 3 weeks.

So yeah progress is incredibly slow after that fact. I don’t know why the MCC system is being romanticised against the Infinite system when the two are practically identical.

Couldn’t tell you but in my time actually playing the MCC again over the summer it was a lot more enjoyable and it felt like I was progressing and getting stuff a lot quicker.

Unfortunately that comes to an abrupt end mid way though your 3rd tour.

Didn’t feel like it to me. I think I’m on tour five and I’m not having issues.

Performance based exp might lead to people ignoring the objective and focusing on kills especially if the bonus is substantial. Exp based off wins would be better.

Performance based would still include points for ptfoing

If it’s based on points then getting kills is still usually more. A win based system promotes playing the objective more.

Other halos have had a performance based system and it’s worked fine for the most part.
