I am trying to get my Portuguese cousins into playing Halo 5. They live in America but don’t k ow English yet. I set up their XBOX with the language set to Portuguese and I even set the location and time zone to Brazil. all of the Xbox menus are now in Portuguese. But all the Halo 5 menu options and campaign voiceovers and subtitles are all still in English. I can’t find any clear information online on how to fix this. Is there just not a way to make the game itself be in Portuguese? They can’t navigate the game if they can’t even read the menus. And the campaign dialogue is unintelligible to them.
Not sure the language options in Halo 5 or bothered to check cause I only played it in English but if there are any options within the in-game settings that is where you would need to change it. If a game developer doesn’t make languages available in the game itself, then unfortunately you’re stuck with the default language to my understanding.
I scoured the game settings and found nothing to do with language whatsoever. Which I find shocking. One would assume that to maximize profits, 343 would at least provide different language options for the menus and stuff. And subtitles for the campaign at least. Without that, the game is essentially unplayable for someone with no command of the English language. How can they even navigate the menus?
My assumption is that the language is region locked. It would be strange for the game to only be in English, but not all that surprising for the language to be locked for specific regions. If you bought the game in Brazil, it would probably be in Portuguese. I do find it weird that there’s not the ability to add captions in other languages though. That’s normally something you can do.
I remember the Zelda: Breathe of the Wild had region locked voice acting for a while and as soon as Japanese was released for the US everyone swapped because the US voice actors were so bad lol
