Let’s take a look at Reach and the controversial changes, it had a negative effect statistically (not to be confused with your opinions) compared to the predecessor. What’s wrong with these changes on top of the negatives is that it creates an evolution effect on the next titles. You say Halo needs to evolve, but at what cost? Change might personally sound okay to you depending on the person, but are you still going to feel the same way in Halo 5? Let’s take a look at what the outcome may be.
What did Halo: Reach bring to the table on multiplayer?
Halo Reach:
Armor Abilities
Bloom
Now even though this game wasn’t as big as a success they decided to keep going down this change and evolution path, let’s see what this changed into for Halo: 4.
This is going to use controversial names instead of what they are correctly called in the game, beware if easily butthurt.
Halo 4:
Armor Abilities
Bloom, although altered.
Perks
Care Package (Ordinance)
Join in session
Progression Unlock System
Classes
Point Scoring System (Infinity Slayer)
Credits (Spartan Points)
Now since by most of the forums logic Halo has to change and evolve in each sequel. They changed A LOT in Halo: 4, so what does this possibly mean for Halo: 5?
Halo: 5
Carried Over From Halo 4:
Armor Abilities
Bloom
Perks
Care Package (Ordinance)
Join in session
Progression Unlock System
Classes
Point Scoring System (Infinity Slayer)
Credits (Spartan Points)
(Some may be changed/removed or some may become permanent for all gametypes like ordnance)
Possible Changes to Halo 5:
Gun Attachments
Faster Kill Times
Killcams
Multiple and customizable killstreaks (i.e air strikes)
Prestiges

Is this what we really want? After Halo 4’s changes and evolution there is only so far left to go, not that many changes left to go to that will fit the Halo 4 gameplay style. All games before Halo Reach were solid games (Halo 1-3) why not go back to the old gameplay where no one get’s let down and everyone is happy? Because everyone who is a Halo fan enjoys that gameplay (otherwise they wouldn’t be a fan of Halo). Is this the future we really want? Becoming the run of the mill generic shooter where skill is a very thin line? Why not have a Halo that all the fans can enjoy and not just some? We’ll still be up there with the tops shooters, no fans will be disappointed, and we’ll still bring in new players.
You may think halo 4 is changing a lot of things but you also left out huge changes in the halo franchise. 1 big example is dual wielding in halo 2, another would be equipment in halo 3. There has always been change in the halo franchise, some have been bigger than ordnance or loadouts.

So what do you think is gonna happen?
Once they’ve got all these COD fanboys to come over and play Halo are they just going to revert back to the original Halo?
Possible Changes to Halo 5:
Gun Attachments (CoD)
Faster Kill Times
Killcams (CoD)
Multiple and customizable killstreaks (CoD)
Prestiges (CoD )

LMFAO! I’m sorry to be an A$# about this. But if you want CoD game play, then go play CoD. Halo has never and Should! Never play anything like CoD. I played H1,2,3 to Reach. No problems, but I honestly WILL not play anything past 4 if it’s anything like CoD! I will respect your opinion, but please respect mine if you want a futuristic CoD then play BlOps2. Do not try and have them add silly things like a killstreak to reward little campers hiding for kills to earn whatever killstreak you had in mind. When H4 was announced and rumors got out about AA’s being back and this Ordinance drop, yeah I had a problem at first. But seeing gameplay I came to a understanding and really want to play it.
> 4. Specialization aren’t exactly like CoD’s perks. Perks on CoD are gameplay altering, these seem not to be.
Agree with you completely till this point. The perks are definitely gameplay-altering. Faster Kill time, faster reload, more grenades, these ALL affect gameplay
If I had to pick a “worst” out of the Halo’s for multiplayer it would be 3. Reach is great, it tried some new things that not every one though worked out but it doesn’t mean they can’t. 343i seems to be improving some of those while removing others, plus putting back some of the things that made 2/3 great. 343i is also putting in new things, many of which I think are good ideas and may work out.
I think your also forgetting an important part of a business here. While the video game market does have to try and stick with what people want, ultimately they are making a product and it is down to you whether you buy it. Sure they have some aspects they have to hold on too to make it Halo but their job is not to bend over backwards to make what you want, they make what they want and you accept it.

Precisely. If it is a game you want, you will buy it. 343 is not making a game competitive players want.
Whilst Halo 4 could still be enjoyable, I don’t like the fact that 343 are making the game heavily casual orientated when Halo (Reach aside) has always been popular because of it’s more competitive aspect, whether people realise that or not.
I’ll make a thread about this soon, but I honestly don’t see why Halo has to go in this casual direction and deviate away from what made it popular. I’m not saying things shouldn’t change, just not in this way.
343 does whatever the h311 they want with their game.
They produce what they think is a fun game to play, if you don’t, play something else. It’s as simple as that. I mean we have 7 other Halo games to choose from if you don’t like it.

This is just stupid and would never happen. To suggest that Halo is morphing into CoD is nothing short of ridiculous -which is exactly what this thread implies.

Its not just Halo, all shooters are basically becoming RPG’s with some shooting to supplement the copious amount of game-breaking gimmicks being thrown in every modern day shooter.
Shooters use to actually be SHOOTERS and were about SKILL, now they are just cheap RPG’s made to hook the player into unlocking -Yoink- and playing longer to “level up” so they can have the advantage over other players. Dont get me wrong I love a good RPG, but shooters should not have the unbalanced BS RPG’s do in multiplayer.
