Changes that Halo 5 could use

Keep in mind, these are just my own opinions. I realize that some of these issues have already been addressed, and I also realize that some of these aren’t even important, but still, everybody has different opinions. Feel free to discuss them, but please, be civil.

  1. Remove all bonuses for automatic weapons in smart scope, instead of reducing them.
  2. Magnum kicks like a mule, instead of giving it recoil, it should just have bloom or a larger reticule like in previous Halos.
  3. Smart scope should be faster for some weapons, like the sniper rifle. Smart scope is supposed to be just a reskinned zoom, so it should have the same properties.
  4. This won’t happen, but I’m putting it out there. Smart scope should just be removed. What I mean by this is removing the weapon model in zoom. Previous Halos gave amazing peripheral vision whilst zoomed in, but now the weapon models get in the way of situational awareness.
  5. Visors should be shiny again, like in Halo 3 and H2A. They seem too dull now.
  6. Black or customizable bodysuits, enough said.
  7. Battle rifle looks pretty bad. The ammo counter should be blue, not black with blue background, but blue like in the original trilogy. The scope is also just plain ugly. If it can be changed back to Halo 4’s scope, that would be great.
  8. Battle rifle sounds are still not up to par. It doesn’t sound quite as powerful as it should be. Halo 2 classic/anniversary and Halo 3 all had beefy sounding BRs, while Halo 4/5’s BR sounds like a rusty typewriter.
  9. This may not actually be true, but I think that in the beta, the DMR takes 5 shots to kill, but the final shot takes down shields, as well as kill the person. It would be helpful for it to completely take down shields in just 4 shots, keeping the TTK, but letting the person being shot have better information about his impending death.
  10. SMG’s range is too long. It seems to outplay the assault rifle in just about everything. If the firerate or damage or even just a bigger reticule were to be changed, it would balance it out.
  11. Red team has pink as a secondary color. Why? White or maroon would make far better alternatives.
  12. Headshot hitboxes are too big.
  13. Too much bullet magnetism and not enough aim assist. It’s kind of like a balance, and right now, it’s not balanced.
  14. Melee doesn’t have enough lunge range, if any. It should strike a balance between Halo 2 and 3.
  15. The colors in general are just too bright. I like a more restrained color palette for Halo, like in 2 or 3.
  16. This is more of a concern, but I hope there will be big asymmetrical maps for gamemodes like big team battle or CTF, or maybe even an invasion style game mode.
  17. I realize that sprint speed has already been adjusted, but the acceleration should also be adjusted. I shouldn’t have the room to do a shoulder bash if I was just camping in a corner.
  18. Jump height should be increased. Clamber should be a crutch for players who didn’t quite make that jump, not a necessity for everyone.
  19. Shield regen during sprinting shouldn’t just not happen. It should just be significantly slower.
  20. Grenade hitmarkers should be removed, since they just encourage random grenade spam. I would like it if all hitmarkers were removed, but that’s just me.

I didn’t realize the game was out and needed changes already.

This is practically the worst change list I have ever read. These are all terrible ideas. Give the Magnum a recoil increase? Really?! It needs more power and less recoil if anything!

I actually found this to be a good response to the bloom complaints from Reach & H4. I prefer the recoil over bloom. Maybe take it down a notch, but I liked the magnum … I found it powerful, but difficult to use, so … balanced, I suppose.

Previous Halo games blurred out that peripheral vision. Now, it’s clear, we just have a gun and a hologram to look at and it functions the same, so I don’t mind it (honestly, it just looks cool lol).

I don’t mind it. It’s just a new model. I thought it was ugly at first, but it kinda grew on me. Honestly, I really like the H2A model, but I don’t have a problem with the new one.

343 is amazing at sound design, but their BR’s do sound a little weird (especially Halo 4’s). I thought Halo 5’s sounded a little odd, but it was better than H4’s. It didn’t sound like a 3-round-burst to me.

Not sure about this one. I rarely use the DMR as I am rubbish with it.

I think they said it’s getting a tad bit of a nerf in that link I posted above.

These are all good points, and I agree with you on them. However, with the rest it’s either a disagree or a neutral standing. But great job hitting on the problems enumerated in 5, 6, and 13. I commend you for that much.

Wow, I guess people really don’t read whole posts anymore. Remember when I said to be civil? Plus, I said it needed LESS recoil. The bloom is just in case it becomes overpowered.

I’m a Halo 5 Beta as well, and I can say the scope system is not as good as it can be and the mechanics for the Assault Rifle need working to. To me is seems to fire so slow and under powered. And the Battle Rifle is so over kill for its make, to accurate and to precise. I like it if it were automatic as that would be good for my close quarters combat but because of its designs it forces a distance for which I am less suited to.

The Magnum feels like its from Halo 2, lots of bullets but no having the power. To me, the Magnum is the last weapon draw to make a final shot on a target. And needs the power to kill with one shot.

Spartan movement should be faster, as you are wearing a battle suit thing effectively, above the average trooper. And definitely not slow down to a walk pace we getting shot at.

I would want them to make the killtimes a bit slower, they seemed a bit too fast in the Beta.

You are a little late to say the beta input which all have been said already and are getting improved upon.

They said that the game would be completed (mostly) by E3. E3 is June 16-18, so they have 6 weeks. Most likely nothing that is posted on this forum will be implemented. Yet all I see is more and more posts about crap that has either been addressed, or commented on. It’s pathetic.

Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t know you singlehandedly designed the game and know every detail about it. congrats. I’m stating my own opinions and encouraging discussion, not encouraging -Yoinks!- to insult “research” and disregard me when I say be civil. And remember that list of changes 343 released after the beta, that’s where I got the reduction of automatic head shots from. Regarding 19, I said they shouldn’t NOT recharge while sprinting. In the BEGINNING of the post I said my research may not be up to date. Maybe pay more attention in English when your teacher tells you to read the whole document from now, okay?
