Changes Should be Made w/ Thruster Pack!

Thruster Pack can be a very useful Armor Ability, but right now it seems like it does nothing to give an advantage in any situation. Let me explain with Pros, and Cons.

-Pros-
-You can quickly move 2-3 feet in any direction, good for corner getaways.
-Helpful for sudden movements, for Hi-Jacks, Sword/Melee lunge.

-Cons-
-You only move 2-3 feet every 6 seconds.(I think it would be nice to have it like evade when you can use it 2 times instantly then have to recharge)
-Slow. (Anyone can still easily kill you when you thrust in a direction)

Those are the main 2 I can really think of. If you think this is true, leave a comment below and hopefully Thruster Pack can be upgraded a bit in the next update.

Does anyone else feel like the campaign’s version of thruster pack works just right? I recall playing through the campaign and loving it, but then moving to multiplayer and wondering “wtf”.

Yeah, Thruster and Jetpack are both serious letdowns, ESPECIALLY when they work differently in the Campaign. Campaign Jetpack works like Reach; it recharges if you let go of the power button. It still doesn’t let you ‘fly’ per se, but it’s better than the pitiful offering in multiplayer, where it doesn’t recharge till you hit the ground. That makes it pointless.

The forced Third person perspective is what utterly wrecks thursters for me. It’s such a shot time that the jarring IN-OUT of the camera is often way more trouble than the movement ‘bonus’ is worth (again, pitiful in MP). Evade didn’t have forced 3rd person and worked just fine…why did they change something that didn’t need ‘fixing’?

Every time I’ve used the thruster pack in multiplayer, even if I did avoid a grenade/get behind cover/etc, I always felt like I would have been better off just sprinting. Along with the auto sentry, which can be destroyed by a passing sneeze, they both need a buff.

I miss the old evade, this one is disappointing as being taken out of first person throws off the player, and it feels like you stop moving after you pop it.

While I agree thruster pack should be buffed slightly, it shouldn`t approach anywhere near the power of evade. Evade is an extremely powerful armor ability and if everyone has it gameplay would slow down dramatically (especially when combined with sprint).

As far as I remember not even Reach allowed evade in anything but Invasion gametypes and elite slayer.

Evade was too strong, two uses that could fling you 15 feet in half a second was fun, but ridiculous. 343 should have balanced the thruster, not nerfed it into the ground.
