To start off I want to say that I know some (or maybe even most) of you aren’t going to agree with what I have to say. I understand. It’s our birth given right to have an opinion so if you are going to express your opinion that contradicts mine, please do it respectfully since I am taking the time to type this. So let’s begin… Also bare with me on the grammar and spelling, I got tired doing this.
I love this game honestly. I sense so much potential in this game. I do see a lot of room for improvement. So I’m going to talk about how I feel about mostly every multiplayer aspect of this game
Main Menu/UI (just getting this out of the way since some people expressed their concerns about it)
To be quiet honest, I could care less about the UI in this game. I understand reach was a lot simpler and more organized, but after 5 minutes of playing the game I already knew where everything was.
Searching/Join in Progress & True Skill in the game
In Halo 4, I definitely see myself being paired with people around my skill level (more than reach). I’ve played a lot of games where the losing team only loses by 1-6 kills.
I do think that TrueSkill (or CSR for this game) should be shown on a player’s card in the lobby. Gives people a better understanding of how balanced the game will be, and will give people a better incentive for playing (I’ve played every online halo just for fun, but do like competition most of the time, but other times I love playing for giggles). We should also be able to see if everyone on the other team is in a party or has mics.
Before I do Join in progress, I must say that no team should ever start with more players than the other team. If we have to wait longer for another teammate, so be it, we’ve been doing it since halo 2.
For Join in Progress, I think 343 should implement the following system (or something like it).
You should only be able to join a game if:
- The leading team has less than or equal to 450 points (45 kills)
- The losing team is only 50 points (5 kills) away from the leading team
If no game is available, we’ll do it the good ol’ fashioned way. Sure as hell beats going into a game where it is 560 to 280. I definitely see why that can be a big issue for a lot of people
Gameplay/Guns
I love how most of this game plays out honestly. I get mad at the game, but the same way I used to get mad at CoD4 (yes, I know hate me), I’d get pissed but still play the game. I do see things that need to/should be changed:
- Boltshot needs to be nerfed, and made consistently. Sometimes someone will blast me with it from a far and sometimes I will shoot it at someone up close and they will just be one shot. It’s also ridiculous that the scatter shot can lose to the boltshot. I say make it a super up close ranged gun (I’m talking about chest to chest, shoulder to shoulder. You should never truly engage your enemy like that in halo anyway)
- The BR should be able to beat the DMR from short range, unless the person using the DMR is an amazing strafer. I say make the BR 4 shot kill (every shot in burst must hit)
- I would like to see the carbine have almost the same kill time as the DMR (I loved this gun in H3)
- Bring de-scoping back. I think it speaks for itself. I always loved it when someone shot me with a sniper and sometimes I would get the clutch no scope.
- Make it so if you are crouching with active camo then those blue dots appear (when you crouch with active camo they disappear, idk if this is a glitch/bug but this needs to be fixed ASAP. Personally I would like active camo to be a ordnance drop
- Make the binary rifle the scarcest thing on the planet. It shouldn’t be an ordnance drop at all.
- Take out auto pickup of flag and ball. It’s not fair that if someone is shooting you in oddball, you can throw the ball at them and then annihilate them.
- Flagnum was a great idea, but still allow us to drop the flag, last thing I want is a big kill sign on my head (this isn’t sabotage from CoD)
- I feel like the melee distance needs to be increased or something. I feel as if we have to sprint before we melee, if that’s the case I don’t mind adapting, just something I needed to know.
- Something needs to be done about spawning. I’ve had people spawn behind me more than often
- Instant respawn should only be allowed in infinity slayer
- I like the de-spawning of weapons (you have to look at the gun), but it should be increased to about 45 seconds.
- Make re-generation field consistent. Sometimes you can charge your shields while being hit, other times you can’t
- Make the teammate arrows easy like in H2 - Reach. I don’t understand the whole blinking red and blue thing. I want to see who is chatting on my team and most importantly I want to see where my teammate died.
- To avoid camping, I would like to so that if you don’t get a kill within 2-3 minutes, then your ordnance meter will start dropping. This is something I personally want, I understand if many of you don’t agree
Gametypes
Many of us have to understand that MLG and Grifball hub need to make their own settings for the game before they are released.
I think the following gametypes should be added (and kept!). These don’t include the playlists that are already in the game. Some of these are playlists that exist but should be mixed with something else. I like the rotational playlist idea but these are mandatory:
Swat
Snipers
Big team + Big team objective
Mixed objective (put KotH, CTF, and Oddball in here. Make it so that when we vote, there is an option for each gametype)
MLG (have to wait)
Grifball (have to wait)
Doubles (with both pro and infinity)
Multi Team
Community (halo community makes its own custom gametypes and we experiment them, seems pretty cool)
Rotational should pretty much be action sack from reach or something
Other things to acknowledge/consider
- Forge: I really like forge, a lot easier to use with magnets and edit coordinates. People want to be able to make precision adjustments so just give it to them (not that big of a deal)
- Custom games: Please make it so we have the ability to customize EVERYTHING (from sprint to flagnum, I’m talking the whole nine yards baby). I’d love to see us be able to change damage of specific guns. That way we’d be able to buff or nerf guns in customs and test them out.
- File share: Fix this ASAP. I also want to see some forge maps in MM.
- Kill cams: I understand they had bugs/lag, but I thought it was really cool to have, especially in halo where dying from some BS is bound to happen.
