As a long time Halo fan, who reminisces on Halo 3 a lot I see some upcoming game features for Infinite that just has me concerned. I wonder if I’m alone in these features or whether there are many others out there who think alike.
To preface I haven’t honestly spent that much time criticizing all gameplay but from the videos I have watched it seems 343 is addressing things other fans appear to be have issues with, that I never saw as an issue. That may be due to the older style of Halo I much enjoyed though.
Things I see that wish were different:
Have closer to Halo 3 physics / movement (sprinting is okay) and less of an Apex Legends movement style. The sprinting, sliding, grappling hook just makes me think I’m watching an Apex game. - What is with the aura around enemies? What’s the point in wearing unique armor when all you can see is a red glow from your enemy masking what armor they have on. I’d love to see the glowing aura removed all together or tremendously decreased. - Something small today I saw - “back smack” just gives me cringe vibes as if it’s trying to sound more PC vs Assassination. Those are just my first impressions of the game I’m highly anticipating

I have no issues with the current movement I’ve seen, but I have not experienced it myself, hoping to get a feel for it the 24th when they do the next flight as I missed the last one. Each Halo has had their own kind of movement physics, so it won’t surprise me if it feels different than previous iterations because that’s typically how it’s always been.

I suppose you are talking about the red enemy outline they’re doing instead of adhering to Red vs Blue color coatings? Personally it doesn’t bother me, but maybe add a feature that allows you to get rid of it in placement of red name tags above their head, kind of like how Overwatch does it.

You mean calling it a ‘back smack’ instead of a ‘beat down’? Doesn’t really sound PC’ish to me, I’ve heard people call it a back smack before on console.

I’m just gonna second everything you said. The movement is really good. It feels like a very nice blend between classic and modern movement. Like a REALLY NICE blend. It’s its own thing.

I think 343i has done a good job with the gameplay movement in the test flight, it feels like Halo 3 mix with Halo 5 movement. Doesn’t feel like Apex, which I’m glad, was never a fan of it. Felt like outdated animation. But for some folks really liked it. But not me. - The player outline I think Is designed for players with limited vision and for the new color coating idea. Think of it like upgrade VSIR from ODST. Friend and for system.

I’ll have to test it and see how I like it when it’s available for me to try. I didn’t really care for Apex and all the movement mechanics so am just a little worried. To me the red glow does seem a little overkill, in the fact that I can’t imagine there being a hint of sneaking around at all either. Not that Halo was ever a game to “sneak around” in much. But still. The back smack thing is minor and just sounds more lame imo. Appreciate your educated feedback
The game doesn’t look like it plays like apex at all tbh. If you’re talking about some of the movement mechanics I could see where you’re coming from a bit but I get totally different vibes from both games. And I’ve played apex.
The identity is all there in infinite, just modernized with some mobility mechanics sprinkled in.

Agreed.
Really dislike the grappling hook, and the novelty style it brings to the game… feels less serious and more cartoonish.
Also can’t stand the glowing auras, hopeful that it’s possible to play the campaign without any of that stuff, because it already has me turned off of multiplayer entirely.
As to why assassinations will be missing from this game… I can’t imagine any reason they would cut them, it makes me very concerned about what else is missing.

I dont really have any issue with the movement but its definitely not halo 3’s, honeslty when i read “physics” i thought you were gonna talk about stuff like the hammer and i was gonna fully agree that. miss me halo 3 hammer physics - outlines are trash, they are a way to let people show off coatings under the guise of being mainly for color blind when there have been alot of post about better ways they could have done it and what not. also most people arent gonna look at peoples armors and coatings as they will just shoot glowing man till dead and move on. - back smack sounds like what you give someone during a pep talk not when ending their life. beat down sounds better for murderous intent.
